Seavarii

A common sight at any coastal port, Seavarii are natural fishermen and sailors. Most vessels at sea will have at least one Seavarii in the crew and often manning the crow's nest.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These humanoid creatures possess a sleek, seagull-like appearance, with four upper body limbs that enhance their agile silhouette. Two are humanoid arms, slender yet strong, while the other two are broad wings extending from just below their shoulder blades, lined with smooth, pristine feathers. Their lithe bodies are cloaked in shimmering white plumage, contrasting with the silvery-gray feathers along their wings and back. Below, two sturdy legs emerge, feathered at the upper thighs and transitioning to pale, scale-like lower legs ending in webbed, taloned feet designed for gripping rocky coastlines. Atop their short, curved necks sits a streamlined head, adorned with a sharp, yellow beak and intelligent, watchful black eyes that glint with curiosity and cunning.

Biological Traits

Advanced Flight: Seavarii have wings developed enough for flight. As a partial action, they can take off from a standing position. After taking off, the Seavarii gains a fly speed equal to double their standard movement. Seavarii cannot fly while under medium or heavy overencumbrance or while exhausted. Seavarii can fly for a number of consecutive rounds equal to twice their Endurance (minimum 1 round). They can exert themselves to fly for up to twice as long, but they become exhausted at the end of the flight. In addition, Seavarii can use their wings to glide, negating damage from a fall from any height and allowing 6 meters of forward travel for every 2 meters of descent.   Beak and Claw: Equipped with a sharp beak and a long talon on their foot, the Seavarii possess deadly natural weapons. The Seavarii’s beak can be used as a natural 8 WDR piercing weapon and counts as an unarmed strike. Seavarii can also perform a kick with their taloned feet. When using a kick attack, they can choose to add +3 WDR in piercing damage while taking a -2 penalty to the roll. These actions may only be performed if the beak or foot is uncovered.   Coastal Ancestry: Seavarii evolved near the coasts of the temperate isles so, they are naturally inclined towards a coastal lifestyle. They gain +8 to Swim. They also have natural pressure protection and can quickly sink without fearing the dangerous effects of pressure change.

Knowledge of the Ocean: An Seavarii gains a +12 to Wayfaring and a +12 Survival(Aquatic).

Genetics and Reproduction

Seavarii reproduce sexually, There is a one month gestation, then the female lays five eggs at a time.

Growth Rate & Stages

Young Seavarii are born with their arms and wings merged as a single limb. By the end of their second year of life, the limbs split and seperate.
