Parthian

A Parthian is a combatant who is skilled in ranged combat while mounted. They use their abilities to provide mobile firesupport across the battlefield.

Class Level Abilities

Level 1

Active Abilities
Parting Shot: Up to three times per day per level, as a full-round action instead of taking a disengage action, the Parthian may move up to their mount's full movement away from an enemy and make a single ranged attack against that enemy. The Parthian must be mounted and able to move out of the enemy’s reach. This movement does not provoke reactions or other effects that would normally trigger when leaving an enemy’s zone of control.  
Conditional Abilities
Rider and Mount: When taking an attack, the Parthian may attempt to choose which is hit. If either would be successfully hit, the Parthian may roll a die, if the result is even the attack is redirected.   Swift Mobility: When taking a movement action while mounted on your Favored Mount, the Parthian can choose to take an attack at any point within the move action. The attack counts as a normal attack action and doesn’t take the penalty associated with firing while moving.  
Passive Abilities
Born to Ride I: Choose 1 skill under Ride. Gain a +6 in that skill.   Favored Mount: Choose a mount-type animal. This animal becomes the Parthian's favored mount granting the Parthian certain benefits. A Parthian starts the game with a standard mount from his culture’s region, if the favored mount is an exotic animal, the Parthian can instead purchase it at half market value. This mount is well-used to its master and is combat-trained. The mount comes with a basic saddle for its type.   Ranged Training: When this ability is gained, for each instance of Ranged Training you already have, gain an additional +10 Ranged.   Ranged Parthian Talent: When this class is taken, choose one of the following abilities:

  • Improved Momentum: Throwing weapons launched while mounted and moving increase their weapon damage rating by 50% and the weapon range by 50%. While mounted on your Favored Mount, you gain an additional +6 to Throwing.

  • Outrider: Gain a +8 to one of the skills under Firearms. Firearms of this type may be reloaded while mounted even if moving, but if they normally can’t be used while mounted it takes twice the time to reload. An Outrider has -1 Magic. While mounted on your Favored Mount, you gain an additional +6 to Firearms.

  • Traditional Parthian: Gain +6 to Archery and +3 to Mounted Archery. While mounted on your Favored Mount, you gain an additional +6 to Archery. Archery type weapons also have their WDR increased by 2 while mounted.
 

Level 2

Evasive Maneuvers: While mounted and having moved on the previous turn, when subjected to a ranged attack roll your defense roll twice and choose which result.

Born to Ride II: Choose 1 skill under Ride. Gain a +6 in that skill.   Ranged Training: When this ability is gained, for each instance of Ranged Training you already have, gain an additional +10 Ranged.  

Level 3

Carry the Momentum: Whenever a Parthian makes a move action to move their full movement, they may immediately make a single additional move action. This move action cannot be used for anything but movement and cannot trigger itself.  
Passive Abilities
Born to Ride III: Choose 1 skill under Ride. Gain a +6 in that skill.   Ranged Training: When this ability is gained, for each instance of Ranged Training you already have, gain an additional +10 Ranged.   Ranged Parthian Talent II: When this level is taken, choose one of the following abilities:

  • Throwing Proficiency: Gain a +12 in one skill under throwing weapons. Gain an additional +8 to Throwing when mounted on your Favored Mount.

  • Firearm Proficiency: Gain a +6 to one of the skills under Firearms. Gain an additional +7 to that skill when mounted on your Favored Mount. Reduce the time it takes to reload a firearm by one category.

  • Multi-shot: Such skill with a bow allows a Parthian to fire up to two arrows at once using the penalty as if using two weapons. Additionally gain a +8 to Archery while mounted on your Favored Mount.
