"The Border"

"The Border" is a term used to describe a region of space that roughly outlines the region of space controlled by humanity, it is this phenomenon that has stopped humanity from outreaching even further during the first colonization era. It is hard to detect without advanced sensor arrays, and even then, detection may pose a challenge if the observer doesn't know what to look for.

Properties

It has no apparent influence on any ship that doesn't come into its immediate proximity (500-840 km), once a ship crosses this line, the ship usually begins to shake, as if encountering some kind of "warp turbulence". This effect usually stops immediately after the immediate proximity of the anomaly is left, regardless if it is crossed in the process or not.
Numerous anomalies were observed by ships that have crossed "The Border" and returned, this includes time dilatation, physical warping of the ships hull at impossible rates and in impossible ways, while only slightly affecting the structural integrity of the vessel. Reports of faces or enormous humanoid shapes in the mists of the Warp itself. It has to be stated that even the warp itself changes, the most noticeable change is the change of color, from the normal light blues it quickly changes into vibrant purples, pinks, and reds, continually swirling, changing, mixing and separating, the warp often seems more "unstable" and "volatile" in the wastes beyond the border.
Failure of normally perfectly functional navigation systems is also frequently reported, slight mistakes in the jump calculations at best, all the way to missing the system by several days of travel at worst.

Dangers

It is quite easy for ships to get lost beyond the anomaly, multiple vessels were declared missing after they didn't report back, some of these incidents are more than 100 years old.
The tricky nature of the warp in this region of space may take its toll on the morale and sometimes even sanity of the crew, it is recommended that all windows are being permanently shut during the extend of the travel in this region.
One of the biggest dangers that a ship and its crew may encounter after crossing the border is [DATA REDACTED], the command of the ship is legally required to take all precautions against such a scenario, and if it such a scenario would occur, the command is to stop such an event with any and all means.
Under no circumstances is a psychically potent individual to be aboard a ship that crosses "The Border", if such an individual is aboard, the ship command is legally obliged to [DATA REDACTED], and then initialize [Directive Ω]. After reporting the fulfillment of [Directive Ω], the ship is to be declared lost, and all of the personnel onboard considered dead.
If any of the two last scenarios occur and the ship crosses "The Border" back into human space, the ship is then to be destroyed and all onboard personnel/biomass is to be terminated and/or cremated. Under no circumstances is any civilian ship to attempt to establish a contact of any sort with the ship, if any ship has contacted the "lost" ship, its data logs are to be purged and its crew has to sign the silence pact. If the crew makes physical contact with the "lost" ship or anything that was onboard the "lost" ship, the termination protocols are to extend on the ship and all of its crew.
