Sayanna

Sayanna is the Spring holiday in Endinsian culture. It is celebrated during the beginning of Neol, which is a bit later in the year but the Endinsian continent is pretty far north. It is a one-day holiday, involving flower-viewing during the day and bonfires at night.

Execution

In the early part of the day, between 08:00 and 14:00, Endinsians gather near their favorite flower-viewing areas to have picnics within them. Traditionally, the picnics involve floral teas and biscuits, a lunch of a flower-viewing bento, and gyrowan bread.

By around 18:00, everyone's lining up in the streets for a spring-time bonfire. During this time, food vendors line the streets with the first of that year's harvest, including mountain vegetables cooked up in soups, rice bowls, or stirfry. Other vendors offer delectable desserts to warm up over the bonfire.

In the past, dragons would kindly set the bonfire ablaze with their dragon breath. However, with the development of the Dracid as successors to dragons, a dracid typically volunteers to set the bonfire on fire with their dragon breath. After the fire is set, Alartian priests bless the fires with hopes of a bountiful harvest for the year and the people attending say their prayers to the godess of harvest.

During the bonfire, people bring their desserts to be warmed up—these desserts are usually something that can be put on a stick and held at arm's length to be warmed up. It is said to take care not to burn your desserts, though some people still enjoy having charred desserts.
