Bulgorid Holdfast
The Bulgorid Holdfast is what happens when you take dwarves, give them several millennia to dig downwards unchecked, throw in a monarchy backed by rigid guilds, and lock the whole thing behind doors guarded by trained murder-wildlife. It is a subterranean technocracy coated in soot, and polished with paranoia.
Situated under the piercing peaks of the Ariac mountain range, the Holdfast is entirely underground — not out of fear or necessity, but because dwarves like it that way, and you are free to disagree once you’ve been politely escorted out by a 3-ton Iron Golem.
