Maruts

The Maruts are storm gods numbering anywhere from twenty-seven to sixty, born from a union between Rudra and Diti. However, there are those who believe them to be Rudras split into many pieces! Either way, they are extrememly violent and aggresive, armed by golden weapons and lightning bolts. They are known to gnash their iron teeth and roar like lions while their golden chariots carry them across the sky! The Maruts accompany Indra into battle, lending him their power by making mountains tremble and cutting the rain out of clouds. There is one collective wife of the Maruts, Rodasi, who leads them through the heavens, symbolizing lightning itself.
