Trolls

Being few in number even in the heart of the United Confederacy, meeting a troll by chance is a rare occurrence. Though humanoid in form, fully-grown trolls can be twice, sometimes thrice, as large as the average human. Besides comfortably defying the square-cube law, there isn't much worth noting about trolls besides their particularly standoffish internal ethnic relations, which has persisted despite the policies of various chieftains over several decades.   Bulkier and squatter in shape than other humanoids, trolls tend to lack the keen senses of their smaller brethren, but have enough brawn to overwhelm even the strongest orcs. Wielding cannon, thick steel plates, and oversized melee weapons the few times troll forces fought in recent history, their ferocious strength and surprising speed are well-suited to the task of smashing through enemy lines with the brutality of heavy cavalry and shock troopers. Fortunately, a society-wide focus on preserving their dwindling numbers and traditions has meant that since the Second Age, trolls have never appeared in any theater of war in significant numbers, leaving them in orders of battle as an elite assault force requiring both significant flexibility and cautious judgement from their commanders.
