Alanue
Nestled gracefully beside sparkling ocean waves, this magnificent medieval city stands as a testament to architectural brilliance and grandeur. Gazing out from its towering walls, one is captivated by the breathtaking beauty that surrounds this metropolis. With its narrow cobblestone streets, adorned with vibrant flowers and bustling market stalls, Alanue exudes an inviting charm that welcomes locals and visitors alike.
The salty ocean breeze mingles with the aromas of freshly baked bread and savory spices, enticing wanderers to lose themselves in maze-like alleys. From the impressive castle guarding the city's heart to the ornate cathedrals reaching towards the heavens, Alanue is a tapestry of architectural wonders. The sound of lapping waves provides a soothing soundtrack as ships bob willingly in the harbor, laden with exotic treasures from distant lands. Its warm-hearted inhabitants foster a sense of community and belonging, ensuring that all who enter feel like cherished guests. With each passing day, Alanue's rich history and breathtaking vistas reminded its residents of the majesty that lay at its doorstep, intertwining the allure of the medieval and the enchantment of the ocean in perfect harmony.
But underneath its warm facade is a long history of war and expansion. It has a longstanding feud with Zarenia. In the past few decades, Zarenians, falsely promised with new business and educational opportunities, were taken back to the mainland and pressed into slavery. This sparked a trend among wealthy Alanuans to designate highly desirable native Zarenians as "wild-caught slaves" versus what they considered physically weaker Alanuan "bred" slaves.
The poor treatment of their diaspora sparked a renewed Zarenian revolution under the banner Promise of Freedom. Expelling remaining Alanuan The Guardians, Zarenians sought to regain their previous sovereignty. Alanuans are now only permitted to dock in Casbar with restricted access to the port city.
Government
Though the city is largely managed by the aristocracy, Alanue (both the city and the province) are ruled by the Emperor who retains final say over any significant matters.
Defences
The entire city is surrounded in layers of walls, whose gates can only be opened or closed by Earth Guardians.
Infrastructure
Alanue is structured into three sections: the Outer Ring, the Upper Ring, and the Inner Ring. Each ring is connected by canals which transport goods and people.
Outer RingComposed mostly of peasants and other "undesirables".
Upper RingConsists of the middle class and some wealthy nobles.
Inner RingThe location of the King's palace and important or incredibly wealthy nobility.
