Founded in 1065 CA, The Phoenix Bows of Lionstail trace their origins to the founding of Lobster Claw Castle , where discipline mattered more than glory. Drawn from the lesser sons of merchants and artisans, these men were trained to guard the harbor, patrol the streets, and keep Lighthouse of Helois aflame. Their archery is competent—measured volleys to deter raiders, not feats sung by bards. In the fortress yard, drills are steady and unchanging, more about order than innovation. Though no legends mark their ranks, the Phoenix Bows endure as a dependable presence, balancing their bows with civic duty, guiding Lionstail’s people as surely as its beacon.

These bowman are professional career soldiers, and as such are paid a silver piece per week. Enlistments happen twice per year for new candidates, as young as 14, vie for a spot.

Most of the guard (400) are stationed in Lionstail, but 100 are sent to Helenon for officers and another 100 to Sultanspire for defense.,

Sagiterri Prefectus

Meaning “First Bow” this is the head bowman. He is in charge of justice in Lionstail and as such is always a member of the royal House Aquilar . Typically the younger brother in a lesser branch of the family.

Companyman

The commander of a bowman company- 100 soldiers. These guard captains also serve as makeshift judges in the different districts of Lionstail.
