Sapphire-Swan

Kristina Roberts is the heroic vigilante Sapphire-Swan, who has become a valuable ally and friend to Emerald-Man. She took over the place of Carolina White at Barnes Jewelry.

History

Kristina's powers have origin far beyond her own life. She carries the spell that once affected the Children of Lir through her blood. Thus she has fey powers related to swans. Such power was twisted by the Morrigan, turning many of her matriarchal ancestors into blood-thirsty warriors. These were mistaken for Valkyries.

Early Life

Kristina Roberts was born on the 4th of September of 1999 in Denver, Colorado. She is the daughter of Michael and Sarah Roberts, coming from a Scottish-American ancestry. Sometime when she entered adulthood, she began dating a man named Nathan. Kristina and Nathan would be caught in a fire that was meant to kill her. Nathan died to the flames, unleashing Kristina's swan powers in a primal fury. She would soon use her superpowers to fight for good, inspired by heroes like the Emerald-Man. She would take on the name "Sapphire-Swan" as a secret identity.   Being a masked vigilante, she kept her identity a close-kept secret and therefore has proved to be elusive to any reporters on her nature. She began fighting crime around the year 2020 in Denver, Colorado. She became notorious with the police department there as she did not cooperate with them. Eventually she made her way further west, to Salt Lake City, where she had a short stint, until eventually she moved up to Oregon. There, she decided to start fighting crime on the east side of the I-5 Corridor, mainly in the Centennial district in Portland, Oregon. She gained the notice of the police department when she intervened in a shoot out against the Valentine gang and the Mexican cartel in June of 2022.

First meeting Emerald-Man

Kristina Roberts in 2022, approaching Stephen Barnes about a job at his jewelry store.
As she was staying in Portland, Oregon, she found a meager job as a waitress at a local diner. She had struggled to find work prior to that. One day, in Mid-July of 2022, she came across a down struck Stephen Barnes in the diner. She offered him a free meal. However, her talk with him led her to not paying attention to coffee she was making which made a mess. She would get fired for this incident.   She would try to find more work, and came across Stephen Barnes again who offered a job at his jewelry store. At first she rejected him. She would return the next day with a resume, being hired on the spot. She came suspicious of this, and began to shadow Stephen Barnes to see if he was into notorious activity. She would run into Emerald-Man, attacking him for "assaulting" a police officer who turned out to be the phantom Fetch in disguise. Fetch tried to run off with Emerald-Man's emerald. The two would recover the Emerald, but Sapphire-Swan would be injured in the process. Emerald-Man and her would flirt until she used her healing magic to recover from her wounds. Then, she departed from his presence.   She would work alongside Stephen Barnes, keeping her identity a secret from him. She was suspicious of Stephen's secretive nature, and would often try to look into it. She acted as Sapphire-Swan once again when Fetch turned the city of Portland into phantoms like him. She assisted Emerald-Man in stopping this plot.

Rise of the Termite

In April of 2024, Kristina was still rather suspicious of Stephen Barnes, and began looking into the nature of her co-worker. She would be caught by Stephen, to which she was confronted about it. She apologized, and spoke to Stephen about it at lunch. However, their meeting was cut short with Stephen suddenly departing. She went to follow him as Sapphire-Swan. She would find Emerald-Man significantly wounded by the supervillain Black Blast. She swooped into defeat Black Blast, and healed Emerald-Man of his wounds. The two would later agree to a date.
During the date night, Sapphire-Swan found herself in a sorrowful place. She explained to Emerald-Man the origin of her powers. The two then overheard an attack on Titan Industries. The two confronted the supervillain Termite. Sapphire-Swan was quickly injured by the Termite's superior strength, but evidently made a connection between the heat regulating wires and Termite's lasers. She pointed it out to Emerald-Man, and he used the knowledge to overcome the villain. Termite fled, and Sapphire-Swan mended Emerald-Man's wounds with a kiss.
