The Morrigan

The Morrigan are an Aos Si of the Seelie court associated with war and the land. It is comprised of three different fey:
  • Macha, the fey of sovereignty.
  • Nemain, the fey of battlefrenzy.
  • Badb, the fey of war, portrayed as a crow.
These three spirits make up the triad called The Morrigan, a war entity that will often watch over the battles of the irish and fey. Sometimes, they seek to give victory, and other times they serve as a bad omen to those who see Badb fly.   She has often been associated with the Wyrd sisters of Scottish myth, and some have believed them to be one in the same.

Watcher of Battles

The Morrigan, instead of retreating to the lands of Tir na Nog as the other fey, including her husband Dagda, had done, remained on the land. It was, after all, her task to recognized the sovereignty of the High Kings of Ireland. Using this task, she continued to reside over the many battles of Irish warriors and use her powers to sway the outcome of a fight.   This became crucial when Unseelie fey began to turn against the people of the world. The Morrigan acted as a judge, seeking balance between the powers that be and often protected humanity from the Unseelie that sought to harm them. Some believe she has overstayed her welcome and abuses her position, while others believe her role has been pivotal in keeping the fey ultimately at bay.   Recently, she has overlooked the battles of Stephen Barnes, the last of the druids called Emerald-Man. First, she judged his battle between Fetch, and then again with his battle against Dr. Plague. Both times, Stephen Barnes prevailed.
