The Dread Peaks

The Dread Peaks is a range of mountains spanning from Aldaros to Highhold and bordering the Magius Channel. The Dread Peaks are most famous for their inability to be conquered by the Proxian Empire. Three legions went in and none returned.   Due to their immense height and location, the Dread Peaks contain a vastly different environment compare to it's neighboring regions. Flora and Fauna that do not exist anywhere else are found within the mountain range.   The Dread Peaks are home to the Dark Felvers, a race of savage clawed and bark-skinned humanoids that build massive cities in the trees.

Geography

Snow collects on the frozen peaks and melts into flowing rivers of freshwater that cascade down the mountain or collect in various lakes contained in valleys. This water has the capacity to nourish a gargantuan range of inhabitants of the mountain. Beasts and monsters are larger, insects are the size of kite shields and tree trunks are thick enough to weather the axe blows of giants. The peaks are so vast that when down-slopes and rivers are not present, the peaks give way between themselves to rolling hills and flatland forests brimming with deep green bushes and trees. Dark Felvers make their camps around these parts since they contain the least amount of giants and dangerous beasts. Ledges, cliff faces and exposed caverns house the giants along with stranger inhabitants.

Natural Resources

The Dread Peaks are the only place one can harvest the Strontar Pine. Wood from this tree is the sturdiest type of wood for building and construction, closer to the tensile strength of steel than other wood. However it sacrifices pliability for this strength. It is used for expensive and long lasting buildings.
