The Deathwatch
The Deathwatch was an organisation that was brought together to discover the false lives and machinations of the Mage Vergrath who had extended their own life for centuries. Vergrath used strange rituals and the sacrifice of others lives to greatly extend their own, living under many identities of perhaps as long as centuries.
Ser Caedric Dawnveil
Clad in mirror-bright plate engraved with solar runes of Pelor, Ser Caedric was a Human who lead the fight against Vergrath and their minions and constructs. He was said to wield Sunwake, a radiant blade, rumoured to burn away illusion and undeath alike. He perished in the final battle. The church of Pelor holds that his soul now serves as a guardian angel of light in Pelor’s heavenly vaults.
The Wild Mother, Yselde Thorncall
A wild-haired elven mystic who wandered the coastlines and tangled groves of Khurabil for decades before the call to join the Deathwatch. She carried an implement called The Verdant Chain, said to be created from rings of many elements of Melora's domain, woods, vines, bones and more. Legend says she would appear in many different and disparate parts of the wilds of Khurabil, striking down aberrations and unnatural threats wherever she went before joining forces with the other members of The Deathwatch.
Brother Kalden of the Final Journey
A grim and unflinching Dwarf, Kalden wore bone-white robes and carried The Ash Ward Bell, a relic said to toll to the detriment of undead and aberrations. After Vergrath’s fall, Kalden returned to Battervold and tended the gardens of memory, dutifully serving The Raven Queen for the rest of his days.
Lady Veyra Lysadine
Once a noble scholar, Veyra forsook her position and title to become pursue the truth of evil deeds she had detected signs of in her studies. She is always depicted as carrying The Memorybrand Shield which was said to be etched with the names of those Vergrath had deceived and slain across the centuries. Veyra was blinded by a curse in the final confrontation, but it is said she struck the final blow against Vergrath. Veyra spent her final years outside Port Zaram, but travelling to the Library there each day to somehow read histories and biographies and provide advice to those with the gumption to ask her. She always carried her shield until the end. It is presumably still somewhere in Port Zaram.
Aman Hareth
Said to be the humble scribe and guard of Lady Veyra, Aman's actions are often conflated with hers in the stories. Always depicted as heavily armoured and with a full helm, little is known of what Aman really looked like, except for his tall and strong overall appearance. Aman Hareth's fate is unknown. He may have died of old age. Though he equally may have died in the final battle against Vergrath.
