31 Erathisway 4520: In, An Oud & Around Darin's Fall
Arkomir Phinan writes...
I wake reasonably late for me, although it is still fairly early. I leave Dharra Boulderfoot sleeping as yesterday was huge for her. I head down to the main hall for some breakfast. Esabel Chantry is awake and heads out to watch the dawn, I follow along with her. I am keen to see the sunrise and reaffirm my link with Corellon after last nights dream. I stay quiet as she prays to Pelor . She asks if we partied late last night to which I don't really say much. She tells me of the plans for the Esward Moulton delegation further east. I tell her that we will head back to Glade's Folly to try and find the old road east from the Bowshot Bridge. We chat and then head back to the tavern to find Dharra and some breakfast.
Dharra stays upstairs working on some of her drawings, but before too long, she comes downstairs as does Moulton and Kugulex. The Goliath we have seen is back and speaking to Essa again. As Dharra and I eat our breakfast, we chat about our shared dream from last night. We decide to stay in Darin's Fall for one more day (we will need to ask the boat to wait for us). I also notice that the scales at her neck and elbows are more pronounced and have as golden hue. I have to pick up my stuff from Kobrak this morning as well.
During the rest of the day we accomplish a number of chores which ready us for travel again. We organise for the boat to wait one more day for us, in fact Brom is thankful for the extra time to finalise some things for the tower. Dharra finishes her carving of the dragon in order to get Esme to cast it in gold. We go to Kobrak's shop and meet Bryndis and Arven. We ask him to change the gauntlets a little bit so that Bryndis may be able to augment them later. She asks me to bring her something cool with which to augment them. Dharra visits a music shop to identify the instrument we found at the goblin camp. It is not a common instrument, but they have seen drawings of these in ancient dwarven texts. It is an Oud and this one looks like it is dwarven made and quite singular and also quite magical. I head over to one of the shops doing smelting to talk about what we found yesterday. I arrange to smelt all the goblin swords and stuff we accumulated into usable steel. I also get the gold smelted into ingots for Dharra to use to cast her dragon statue.
Dharra then goes to Esme's to cast the statue. She uses a fire opal we found to create the eyes as well. Having set all this up, we set off to the hall of shrines again. As I am saddling up Blackstar for the day, I notice that it appears that Blackstar seems a little bigger today. We head out to investigate the shrines again. We head to the point where we were camped in our dream last night. Dharra casts her mystic conflux spell but finds nothing of note. I use Divine sense and it is still hallowed ground, but has not been used that way for a while. Dharra investigates the shrine area to try and glean the age of this place. She struggles to recognise the craft of the place and that at least tells her it is not Dwarven. This whole place (like the Bowshot Bridge) is old world elven. The scale and the shape of the architecture certainly points toward that reasoning as well. The shrines are hallowed and it strikes Dharra as a historic place of stone.
I kneel in front of the Corellon shrine and say a small prayer and try to glean a meaning of the dream last night. When they counted my fingers, it is was a reassuring and calming thing. It seems that there is an importance around the number 5 however. I finish my prayer saying: I am yours Corellon. Dharra says a quick prayer to Moradin as well. Having done some further investigation of this space we head back to Darin's Fall. On arriving back in Darin's Fall, we pick up my leather gauntlets from Kobrak and we also pick up the steel, copper, brass and bronze from Gavin. We get ourselves settled for the night and pack gear ready for travel tomorrow.
Dharra casts Mytic Conflux on the oud.
She sees weather-beaten hands in a shaded environment. They are swinging an axe over an alien looking tree. She sees the same hands shaping segments of that wood. The same hands on a desert place with outcroppings of rock where they find a piece of Lapis. The hands take out of black crystalline stone we recognise, a tiny segment of dweomatite. She hears the sound of waves and large blue ocean moving back and forth. The hands find a shell and clears the sand away to reveal mother of pearl. The hands inlay the wood with the pieces of Lapis and mother of pearl. The hands string the instrument and then play the instrument by firelight. The note echoes across the sand and the grassland until it is swallow by the sound of wind. The hands appear to be dwarven and male. This is a Deserts Echo Oud.
Dharra plays at the tavern tonight before we head upstairs for a long rest.
