Keludar
Keludar is a city far from its glory days in the Empire’s past. Sitting in the Lyunn gorge, it is the center for travelers heading east of the Wverndun Mountains. It sits in a small valley along the path that leads into the Lyunn gorge proper. The city is built of grey quartz containing rock that is mined from nearby quarries and supported by dark hard-wood that is found in the forests below the city. The buildings are built with steep roofs made of tiles of the hardwood glued to thin sheets of harder quartz-like rock. Giving the city a color scheme of dark brown, crème, and silver. Many of the buildings have been torn down in recent years since the Empire abandoned the territory beyond the Wverndun Mountains. As such, the upper slopes of the city have been reclaimed by nature with certain areas being torn down while others have buildings remain standing. These reclaimed buildings have become the preferred habitat of the city’s sizable population of Ohanedin.
Beyond the city, at the narrowest point of the Lyunn gorge lies the Snow Loch. A massive wall-fortress that spans the width of the gorge. Built of huge granite blocks that seem as if carved from the gorge itself. The walls have a sloping side that facing east, the slope of the wall increases as it nears the top of the wall. Along the very top of the wall, narrow slits spaced evenly. At the very top of the wall, built along the sides of the gorge, two towers rise above the wall and an additional twenty or thirty feet.
Keludar lies as the bastion between Jjyorkvald and the area of Alnn known as Kallaan. This vast area of rolling planes and thick forests is the home of the Ohanedin. Previous expansion into the area was brought to an end by an alliance of Din and Dwarves. The old cities that lie in the area attract adventurers and archeologists alike that seek to travel into the wilds and recover knowledge and treasure alike.
Defences
The main defense of Keludar is the Snow Loch to the east that spans the Lyunn gorge. This along with being built right along the northern Wverndun Mountains means the city is nearly unassailable from the east. To the west, the city is flanked by a series of low stone walls with steel spikes that line them.
Industry & Trade
Keludar subsists itself off of the travel into Kallaan from members of the northern part of the Orvulian Empire. Its proximity to the Wverndun Mountains allows it a small mining industry outside of the city. The city also sits above most of the forests of Jjyorkvald, leaving it ample room to have a surprisingly large agricultural industry. The city specializes in a cold-growing type of grain native to the region and a fruit tree that produces a fruit known as snow peaches.
Keludar also sees trade from the Dwarven strongholds in the Entas mountains. Large dwarven caravans cross the northern plains of Kallaan and use Keludar as one of their few easy entrance points into the empire.
Architecture
Most buildings consist of a combination of stone and wood, many of which are built with multiple stories. Roofs are heavily slanted due to the heavy snow that blankets the city during the winter.
