Cavanthis
An ancient ruin that sits atop a spire of rock in the south-central Kallaan plains, Cavanthis is an ancient city that has been abandoned since the second age. It's remote nature and strange architecture have puzzled the few archeologists that have made it to the city. Plastered with religious iconography what its purpose was and perhaps still is has eluded scholars. It has been noted that while it provides a sizable windbreak amongst the flat plains, both Ohanedin and Dwarven caravans avoid it when traveling. Additionally, most expeditions to the ruins have not lasted more than a week before having to turn back.
History
What is known conclusively about Cavanthis is that it was a hub of worship for the gods that are no more. There are vast amounts of iconography to the fallen deities. Based upon the decay of the ruins, it is estimated that the city became abandoned within the first few centuries of the second era. Though some architecture indicates it may have been partially inhabited briefly near the end of the second era and beginning of the third era.
Architecture
The entire city complex is built atop a spire that rises some 100 feet into the air. All buildings within the city are made of grey stone, with buildings being typically a single story with short, flat-topped roofs. The main display of the city is its three towers, which are built near the edge of the spire located at equal points along its circumference. The inner side of the towers is flat while the outside face of the towers is initially very steep but near the bottom slope away. Similar to a (1/x) function. All that remains within the city is stone an occasionally metal objects, all wood has long since disintegrated along with certain buildings have collapsed.
Geography
The city lies in the center of the Southern-Kallaan Plain. The terrain around the city is dominated by low-rolling hills, with the rocky outcroppings and swamps of the south not even visible from the height of the city. A sizeable stream runs past the city at a distance of roughly two miles, but scholars believe the city has access to an underground stream near the base of the spire. On a particularly clear day, the Entas Mountains are just visible by their foothills. Given its location atop a spire, the city, and particularly the northern side. Is battered by the large storms that roll across Kallan from the north.
