Ginag (Guh-ee-nag)

Champion Ginag

Ginag is the current Champion of Xzon who also controls a large portion of the southern expanses of Xzon. Ginag is considered to be particularly cruel and volatile compared to many of the other Xzonic Competitors, though he can also demonstrate a remarkable breadth for empathy with the slaves that he keeps.   Before becoming Champion of Xzon, most folks in Xzon knew Ginag due to his siege of the Feral Ford. Slaves who served the Competitor who had held the Ford said that Ginag slew every single non-slave he could find through using strong magical abilities that allowed him to re-animate the dead and draw the will to live out of defenders. It is also said that he ordered his reanimated followers to feed on themselves one by one until only one was left, who he then slew by hand and consumed.

Personal history

It is difficult to determine anything about major figures in Xzon, though Ginag has been somewhat easier to find out about due to freed slaves escaping Xzon and relaying their stories to others. As far as we can gather, Ginag was brought up by his slave father in the afterhouse of his Competitor mother. Ginag was originally slated to become a slave, like his father, but one day he was seen fighting a dog trying to steal scraps of his food and his mother realized that he may make a stronger warrior and leader. Despite the risk of claiming a half-slave as her own, Ginag's mother began to have Ginag learn and train with the other warriors and fighters. When he was old enough to start getting cocky about his skills, his mother challenged him to fight her and gave him a thrashing that he did not forget, partially because it left him with only four fingers on his left hand.   From then on, Ginag soured even more than he already had, yet also grew in cunning, skills, and brawn. When he was fifteen eochs, he challenged his mother to fight and was once again resoundly defeated. But Ginag knew this would happen and had prepared for it, making a slew of potions to help him recover quickly. He resumed his training, and therein he would challenge his mother to a figth about 2-3 times an eoch. Every time she defeated him, but every time he did a little better and learned a little more. Finally, when Ginag was twenty three, he defeated his mother and then struck out on his own. In the next years, he would claim slaves and gain followers, and eventually enter the Punishing. Despite failing to win his first Punishing, Ginag would evetually prevail in his fifth attempt. Luckily for Ginag, the previous Champion had died between each Punishing, meaning that the role as Champion was completely up for grabs.
