Sleepless Knights

Sleep is often the respite of the mind and the soul from the labors of the day. Nocturnal horrors take many forms and act in numerous ways and there are few skilled or foolish enough to confront them. The Sleepless Knights are often the unsung heroes of the eternal fight against the horrorsa that come when the sun goes down, as many members of their order appear as dishevelled and unsavory folk, prone to outbursts and reclusive, socially awkward interactions, what their frightened sponsors do not know is that their name is more in referrence to themselves than the defenseless people they come to help. The Sleepless Knights are a Knightly order in name alone, as few of their number come together and fewer still observe established rituals or ceremony. All that their charge is is the hunt and the Dream of the Hunt, which called them. Some of the Knights resent taking up the call. Some believe that their nights could have been full of that sweet sweet respite had they refused the call

Structure

The Sleepless Knights have very little in a formalized structure to their order. They hold small fortresses, keeps, and watchtowers scattered across the world, but no one holds any rank higher than that of one of the knights. There is a presumed master, or leader of the order, who can often be found in a keep, but when they pass and another takes up the title, the reigning stronghold of the order changes as the title does. The leader of the order is simply referred to as a knight, some call him the Lord Commander, or Master Hunter, or perhaps any other fitting title, but there is nothing in the order to affix a singular title to any member other than knight. Below the leader are the knights, whom venture out and hunt creatures of the night. Some and many knights take on squires to train and pass on their knowledge. This practice is the only singular tradition parallel to other knightly orders.
