Session 2.33
General Summary
Rhorn, while on his way to get some food, was noticed by a former coworker, a firbolg by the name of Klopp. He mentioned that he was in a managerial position helping with the building of residences during Labrie’s period of expansion. As a former coworker, he had asked Rhorn to assist him and his crew continue with the building of houses. With two days worth of free time, Rhorn happily obliged and put his skillset to use helping to finish a few houses in the span.
Zhorn was approached by Lowell and asked him to inspect Labrie’s militia’s progress(whom he had been training since the group’s initial departure). During the inspection Zhorn decided to best assist by utilizing the tempest troopers to assist the militia gain some valuable combat experience. After the two days Zhorn was proud of the militia’s progress thus far, but was unable to truly ascertain if his assistance truly made a difference with the militia.
Weatherby, the ever enterprising member of the militia, managed to arrange an impromptu outdoor cooking demo hosted by Fannti. This event was heavily attended by interested citizens of Labrie. With Fannti incorporating a foreign yet mesmerizing hibachi style technique, the attendees were enamored with the showmanship leading to an increase in cookbook sales. After the demonstration, Weatherby also included a meet and greet with fans of Fannti and the book. All in all the public appearance, along with the sales of the cookbook, and miscellaneous merchandise gained Fannti 650GP.
Finally, Priestess was tutored by Mayor Goldemane on the leaders that would be in attendance during the Summit of Nations. In doing so, Mayor Goldemane hoped to impart some of his knowledge to the party to assist them on how to make the right acquaintances and hopefully eventually the right allies. Priestess was primarily able to glean information on the leaders of the 7 religious orders representing the Prime Deities equating to 7 possible votes that the party could eventually gain.
With all these tasks that party managed to undertake in such a condensed amount of time, they gained a point of renown as they further endeared themselves to the people of Labrie. At the conclusion of the two days the River Sloth arrived and the party resumed their journey to Greenstone.
The first leg(5day) up the Mongave went by pretty uneventfully as the group made a quick overnight stop at Quail Hollow. While there the group learned from Detective Vesley that 1. Mayor Parse had actually left the town early and headed to the Summit of Nations.
2. The 10 children that were abducted by Professor Menethis had been acting strangely after the party had rescued them. Since that time the children have been very quiet and reserved only responding to yes or no question escalating to the point that Mayor Parse had sent for clerics to try and assist.
The following day the party departed north for Omrith, but as they floated past their former home of Peche, they were stopped by a familiar figure of General Bartok who the group had once crossed paths with when he and his delegation were sent to try to acquire the Baricon Ore. Reluctantly, Fannti and Rhorn decided to hear him out while Zhorn headed to the Republic side of the river to strike up conversation. Fannti and Rhorn found out they were stopped for a few reasons:
- He had recognized the party from his initial trip to Peche, and wanted to give them an update on Mayor Ashford’s condition stating that he is sick with an unknown malady. When he was given an option to leave his encampment, Mayor Ashford refused unless his villagers were allowed to leave with him, which were terms that would not be met.
- He had wanted to warn the group that sailing with a group of soldiers(Temptest Troopers) in green during the Brisbanium in a demilitarized zone, no matter the intention, would attract unwanted attention from both Federation and Republic leadership.
- Finally, he wanted to notify them that despite being a Federation general, as the acting representative of Peche, and a friend of Mayor Ashford that he would be voting in the party’s favor during the Summit.
Meanwhile, Zhorn decided to swim across the Mongave and nonchalantly strike up conversation with Republic soldiers who were establishing defenses. Being both a goliath, and coming from the Federation side of the river, he quickly garnered the attention of the soldiers, and his attempts at conversation did not go as smoothly as Zhorn had hoped. After an escalation of tensions and a series of misunderstandings where Zhorn was asked to remain for questioning from Republic officers, Zhorn just swam away and met up with the rest of the party just in time for them to continue drifting north.
