The Astronomy of Elgis

The skies of Elgis are striking in their beauty. In the day a single glaring sun named Lyrios passes through the sky, closely behind which trails a tiny pink moon named Mikiroh. In the night sky, a large pale moon with a gash across it's side -named Ochi- follows the path of Lyrios, passing in front of the multitude of stars -known to the Elgians as the Laros. The pale light of Ochi catches the glittering purple and silver rivers of aireou that form the star rivers.   However, some accounts throughout Elgian history speak of spontaneous mass hallucinations involving the sky. In these hallucinations, the celestial bodies above the world become horrific: The light rays of Lyrios become sinewy tendrils that scrape against the sky, Mikiroh gains a large milky red eye that glares at Elgis, and Ochi's sundered side grows teeth that gnash at the air. These hallucinations are consistent in their descriptions, but they are spontaneous and seemingly randomized in occurrences and are thus impossible to test accurately. This is known as Moon Madness.
