Ro- Ulak / Titan (Row- oolock)

Titans are elemental monsters that have begun emerging from the earth.   Titans appear humanoid in shape, though beyond that fact they are very much different. They have no facial features, no hair, their heads peak above the canopies of even the tallest trees, and their skin -if it can be called that- appears like white stone, cracked and chipped.   All observed titans have a maelstrom of a magical element surrounding them like a whirlwind, which is the most dangerous aspect of the creature. The second most are the effect they seem to have on the environment around them. When a titan is present, objects, creatures, and even the landscape itself within a half-mile radius begin to decay and degrade: iron rapidly rusts, trees rot, the ground shifts and levels out, and the flesh of animals quickly ages. The mechanism by which they accomplish this horrible feat is unknown, but the terror of watching the world being reduced to chaos is widespread. Observers have stated that viewing a titan inspires a wholly unique emotion, unlike any they'd ever experienced before. They say it is like staring into the vast night sky, being dwarfed by something so incomprehensible that the mind shudders and fails to try to understand it.   The origin of titans is a mystery many Elgians are keen to solve. They appear in the crevices of Well-springs, seeming to crawl out from deep beneath the earth. Some have claimed that the titans do not emerge from the ground but form from the stream of magic flowing out, though these claims are unsubstantiated. Regardless, the subsequent actions of the titans are not within doubt. They stalk across the land, their maelstroms and influences wreaking havoc on the environment and any who may be in their path. All recorded instances of titans stalk mindlessly in the direction of the north, towards the heart of the Mavanish Empire. What they are moving towards is unknown, what goal they hope to achieve is also unknown. None have ever reached their destination, whether that be because they are killed or because they spontaneously disintegrate into ash, and one shudders to think of what might occur once they do.   Killing a titan is a difficult, but necessary, task. The only method that has proven effective is heavy blunt force trauma to the stone-like body until the titan shatters into disparate chunks of inert stone. The destruction of the body ceases its unnatural effect on surrounding matter and their maelstrom. It is possible new methods of destruction could be devised, but the newness of this type of disaster has prevented an easy solution. Much like the dragons have military branches dedicated to their extermination, titans have hunters sponsored by governments. They have notably less success than their dragon counterparts.
