Dzakai (Dzzah-kai)

The Dzakai are monstrous fish-humanoids that inhabit the deeper areas of the The Vathys Sea .   To the other inhabitants of Elgis, the Dzakai are monsters lurking beneath the waves, waiting for a stray foot to splash down from a dock to snatch someone away. To the Dzakai, the other inhabitants of Elgis are backward, scaleless, and stupid creatures that nonetheless pose a danger to them.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dzakai have the appearance of fish with arms and legs, standing as tall as eight feet. Their skin is covered in flexible, but tough, fish scales and membranous fins. Their hands are tipped with claws, their feet stretched out and converted to a kind of flipper. Behind their bodies extends a powerful, muscle-bound tail, used to propel through the water.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Dzakai are found primarily beneath the waves of the Vathys sea, in underwater colonies situated within reefs and sunken ships. The only known above-water settlement of the Dzakai is Imbaka , found on a small island in the Vathys sea, where the residents have built crude huts and lean-tos as well as underground lairs.
