Slivcrystal metal

Looking for a weapon that shines like a beacon, or armor that gleams as though blessed by Hikira himself? Slivcrystal is your answer. This radiant silver metal glows softly in the dark, making it perfect for those who fight in shadowed places but refuse to be swallowed by them. Strong as steel, yet luminous by nature, Slivcrystal doubles as both protection and light source never again will you need to carry a torch.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Slivcrystal appears as a pale silver metal that emits a constant soft white glow. When viewed at an angle, the light refracts like a prism, revealing faint rainbow hues within the radiance. Refined ingots shimmer with a gentle aura, making them prized for both practical and ornamental use.

Physical & Chemical Properties

As strong and durable as steel. Naturally emits light equivalent to a lantern. Strongly enhances light-element enchantments. When enchanted, the glow can be recolored to any hue the enchanter desires. The brightness and radius of illumination depend on the strength of the enchantment.

Crafting Cost

  • Weapon: +1,500 gp
  • Armor Light: +800 gp
  • Armor Medium: +1,500 gp
  • Armor Heavy: +2,500 gp
  • Ammunition: +120 gp per unit

Everything Else

When Slivcrystal is enchanted with light element, the enchantment gains a +1 value (extra uses, bonus dice, or permanent increase; GM discretion).

The enchantment can also alter the color and brightness of the glow. Stronger enchantments increase the light radius rather than blinding enemies.

Functions as a permanent light source, freeing the wielder from needing torches or magical light spells.

Slivcrystal – Light Radius by Enchantment Level

Unenchanted (raw Slivcrystal):  Glows softly, equal to a torch (20 ft. bright light, 20 ft. dim light).   +1 Enchantment:  Shines equal to a lantern (30 ft. bright light, 30 ft. dim light).  Color can be altered.   +2 Enchantment:  Glows like a continual flame (40 ft. bright light, 40 ft. dim light).  Light cannot be dispelled by natural darkness.   +3 Enchantment:  Shines like daylight (60 ft. bright light, 60 ft. dim light).  Glare is radiant but not blinding.   +4 Enchantment:  Radiates brilliant daylight (80 ft. bright light, 80 ft. dim light).  Light pierces through magical darkness up to 4th level spells (darkness, deeper darkness).   +5 Enchantment:  Shines with a holy brilliance (100 ft. bright light, 100 ft. dim light).  Counters or dispels magical darkness up to 6th level, and reveals invisible creatures within its radius as faint silhouettes (Perception check DC 20 to notice).

Geology & Geography

Slivcrystal is most often discovered near light ley lines or in planes suffused with radiant energy. Rarely, small deposits appear alongside iron veins—if the ore glimmers faintly in the dark, it is most likely Slivcrystal. Found only in low concentrations, it is considered a precious but scattered resource.

History & Usage

Refinement

The refining process for Slivcrystal mirrors that of iron or steel, requiring no special treatment beyond careful forging to preserve its natural glow. Once smelted, its luminosity only grows brighter, making it a sought-after material for both adventurers and artisans.
