Mana Points System
Mana Point Spellcasting System
We’ve replaced the original Pathfinder spell slot system with a mana point system for spellcasting. Each time a spellcaster casts a spell, they spend mana points equal to the spell’s level. A level 1 spell costs 1 mana point, a level 9 spell costs 9 mana points, and so on.
You’ll still learn the same number of spells your class would normally grant, but you’ll now use mana points to cast them instead of slots.
Example:
If your class could cast three 1st-level spells, two 2nd-level spells, and one 3rd-level spell, your mana pool would be 10 points.
Natural Magic and Mana Pools
In Elema, all sentient beings possess some level of natural magical ability. Your class doesn't grant you magic—it enhances the natural magic you already have. Each character has a personal mana pool tied to their innate magic. If you have a magical class like sorcerer, you are able to combine your natural mana pool with your class mana pool, If your magic is granted from an external force (like a deity), or learned (like a Wizard) the mana pools remain separate .Spell gain
All characters begin with 1 level 0 spell (cantrip) that may be cast freely, without mana cost. will gain new one at the next Level every two Chather LVMana Points Formula
Your total mana points for spellcasting is calculated as:(Spell Level × 1) + Magic Modifier
Natural Magic System
Magic in Elema is deeply personal. It grows with you, shaped by your instincts, emotions, ambitions, and life experiences. All sentient creatures express magic in unique ways.Choosing Your Element
When using the Natural Magic system, begin by selecting an element or concept that defines your innate magic—such as Fire, Light, Gummy, or Gravity. You may reskin existing spells to match your chosen theme. For custom spells, consult your DM. Permanent Spell List: You cannot swap out known spells. Once chosen, your innate magic spells remain fixed—reflecting their connection to your identity. This system is meant to showcase the soul-deep, instinct-driven nature of magic in Elema. Your spells grow from who you are, not just what you’ve studied.Constitution and Mana
Your Constitution score determines your connection to your innate magic—reflecting stamina, vitality, and magical endurance.- You begin with 4 mana points + your Constitution modifier.
- Each time you level up, you gain additional mana points equal to the highest-level spell you can currently cast.
Example:
At level 4, if your highest available spell is level 2, you gain +2 mana points upon leveling up.
Educated Casters
Educated casters (like wizards or similar classes) can learn spells from scrolls or other resources, not just by leveling. In addition to normal spell progression, they can attempt to learn spells above their current class level, but this requires:- DM approval
- Time spent studying (in-game)
- Special materials or conditions (as determined by the DM)
Risks of Overreaching:
- When attempting to learn a spell above your level, there's a chance the scroll is destroyed in the process.
- If learned, there's still a 20% chance the spell fails when cast—your body isn’t used to channeling such high-level magic.
- These overleveled spells also cost 4 additional mana points to cast.
- You may attempt to learn or cast spells up to two levels higher than what your class currently allows.
