Gnomes

Gnomes are one of the most scientifically and magically inventive species on Elema. Their civilizations are rarely without cutting-edge technology, alchemical marvels, or arcane advancements. While many see them as hyperactive tinkerers, this stems from a truth: Gnomes are innately curious and highly intelligent.

Their relentless pursuit of discovery sets them apart. Where others hesitate, Gnomes dive in—whether it’s unlocking the secrets of aether-tech, distilling magical energy, or constructing new theories of mana physics. Don’t dismiss a Gnome’s rambling; they might just be onto the next world-shaking breakthrough.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gnomes are a small bipedal species with two arms, two legs, ten fingers, and ten toes. Their heads are round, with side-pointed ears that tilt slightly upward. They possess circular irises and pupils, and standard humanoid facial features. Gnomes vary widely in hair density; males often grow facial hair, and both sexes have fast-growing scalp hair. About 50% of Gnomes naturally grow hair that grows vertically and can reach half their body length.

Natural Magic

Gnomes have a natural resistance to Will Magic and a weakness to Spirit Magic. Approximately 80% of Gnomes exhibit Will-aligned magical ability, often used in enchantments, mental magic, and spellcraft.

Genetics and Reproduction

A male and female Gnome can conceive naturally. Gestation lasts about 11 months. Fertility tends to end around the 199-year mark.

Growth Rate & Stages

  • Gnomes are considered infants between the ages of zero to Seven, during which time they were completely dependent on their parents for food and care. They gradually pick up mobility and world awareness.
  • The next stage is kids who learn, play, and grow between the ages of 7 to 17. Although kids are not as dependent on their parents at this point, they are still present to meet the majority of their needs. However, young kids are inquisitive and beginning to understand others and themselves. People have a saying that a young child always hears and retains. That is more Ture with Gnomes children and the some many question.
  • Between the ages of 18 to 31, their bodies begin to evolve and develop into adults, which is referred to as the teenage years. Their physical body begins to gain figure, height, weight, and muscles. In most situations, this is also where natural magic develops. In most circumstances, they will also begin to establish their identity and become less reliant on their parents.
  • From the ages of 32 to 269, they are in their adulthood, their bodies have matured, and they have a good sense of what their natural magic will do. It will continue to develop as they age, but in most cases, it has a set of talents.
  • From 270 to roughly 300 years of age, they are elders; their bodies have gradually begun to slow down and become weaker, as have their magical talents if they are not kept up with. Other people regard them as wise because they have lived a lengthy life for a Gnome. This is the Gnome life cycle. Most Gnome don't want to be old because they fell like not as smart or fast they were when longer it just off putting to them.

Ecology and Habitats

Gnomes can and will live anywhere. Wherever they settle, they quickly adapt the environment with technology and magic. They are among the most environmentally disruptive sentient species—often reshaping entire regions to suit their needs.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Gnomes are omnivores and require a balanced intake of plants and meat. Due to their smaller size, they eat less than most species, but their dietary habits often include exotic foods enhanced by magical flavor, texture, or alchemical stimulation.
