Aluci Echoforge

The Aluci Echoforge is a forbidden site where the natural laws of the Metaverse and those of Megatin were shattered. Here, Echoforms were first created: mechanical golems powered not by mana or machinery alone, but by the forcibly bound spirits of entities drawn from the Metaverse.

Recently unearthed after decades lost to time, the ruins of this workshop still whisper of the horrors forged within. What once may have been a visionary gear shop became a crucible of warped ambition.

This is a place where summoner magic collided violently with steampunk engineering and the fusion went terribly, irreparably wrong.

Purpose / Function

This place was once used to trap metaverse entities within mechanical vessels, binding them into machines to be controlled. Evidence suggests that numerous rituals were performed here dark and precise resulting in the creation of various anatomical metaverse monstrosities. From what has been pieced together, the inhabitants constructed automaton bodies of all shapes and sizes, then forcefully summoned entities from beyond and sealed them within these artificial forms.

Architecture

Aluci Echoforge is a square edifice crowned with twisted spiral towers at each corner that have partially fallen due to age, yet it was created with Megatin like accuracy and style. As you approach, the massive double doors become evident, piled in concentric sizes and ornamented with inlaid gears and elaborate clockwork mechanisms. The entire front reflects a unique blend of Summoner desert workmanship and exquisite steampunk engineering from the Kingdom of Aero Haven .

When the doors creak open, you're greeted with the harsh aroma of metal, grease, and a faint wave of unstable mana, as if something went wrong and never stopped. The inside expands into a large hall, its center dominated by a massive, arcane circle engraved into the floor. Four stone tables surround it, each with a smaller ritual circle cut beneath. The chamber hums with lingering energy, directing the eye to the shattered spiral towers that loom around every corner. Though fragmented, each tower has a winding stone stairs carved with Lay line mystical symbols that all lead to the central circle, implying that they originally funneled power inward.

Aside from the main entrance, each wall has two secondary doorways. On the left side, one chamber has heaps of scrap metal and damaged machine pieces, as well as broken tools and a dormant forge outdoors. This chamber appears to have been a workshop, perhaps for repairing or building the bizarre automatons discovered there.

Opposite the entrance door are what look to be cells. Two of the chambers show evidence of escape holes clumsily tunneled through the walls, as if something imprisoned inside had left.

On the other side of the chamber, there is a grimmer scene: mangled fragments of twisted machinery, including two mostly intact creations, one resembling a wolf with spick on its back and the other a dragon with strangely human-like hands fused into their forms. Their shapes resemble a horrific hybrid of summoned animals.

History

What little is known about the origin of this place comes from a fragmented journal believed to belong to Gear Master Aluci Shortgrace, a renowned engineer and artisan of her time. The entries reveal a brilliant mind someone who loved to tinker, invent, and improve the world with machines. Her innovations supported everything from modern transport systems to early golem design. Trains, automata, and public utility constructs across several kingdoms owe pieces of their design to her ingenuity.

According to the journal, Aluci spent a number of years studying and crafting in the Kingdom of Megatin, where she fell in love with the idea of summoning not just bound spirits, but intelligent, living companions. She longed for someone who would walk beside her. Not a servant. A friend.

After failing repeatedly to become a licensed summoner herself, Aluci’s dream took a strange turn. She eventually fell in with a group of like-minded individuals experimenters and arcane theorists who sought to build their own companions through the fusion of mechanical bodies and metaphysical essence drawn from the Metaverse.

Blinded by excitement, Aluci eagerly joined their experiments, enthralled by the possibility of crafting life from gears and soul stuff. Her entries describe years of intense collaboration, trial after trial, and countless failures. But then... success.

She built something.

A creature she described as her companion, crafted to resemble a fusion between a large feline and a salamander, complete with six elegant, curved arms. It was intelligent, reactive, and according to her, kind. She called this creation the Echoform, and the workshop where she brought it to life became known as the Echoforge.

But then, silence.

Later entries speak of her leaving the forge behind for a time perhaps She believes he's done that all that's needed and they can continue the work without her. One final entry mentions her journey back to the Echoforge because she's getting disturbing rumors mechanical best attacks but the journal ends there, abruptly. What she found what happened remains unknown.
