Aerolyth
Aerolyth is a rare, dark blue metal that is almost as strong as steel, but far lighter. Smiths prize it for crafting fast, sharp, and agile equipment. If you want something heavy to feel light as air, Aerolyth is the metal for you.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Aerolyth has a dark blue sheen, with a subtle shimmer when caught in the light. Despite its appearance, it feels unnaturally light in the hand smooth and sleek even before refining. Unworked ore is equally smooth, almost silky to the touch, making it distinct from other raw metals.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Aerolyth is best suited for creating lightweight objects, tools, weapons, and armor. While it slightly sacrifices durability compared to steel, it resonates naturally with the element of wind, enhancing wind-based enchantments and abilities. It does not hold up well in heavy machinery with many moving parts, as its reduced toughness limits long-term stress tolerance.
Weaponry
Gains +1 to attack rolls and +4 damage due to superior sharpness and speed.
However, Aerolyth weapons have 20% less durability than steel equivalents, making them more prone to breaking when sundered.
Armor
Armor made from Aerolyth is one grade lighter (heavy counts as medium, medium counts as light).
Removes all movement penalties normally caused by armor.
Has 20% less durability compared to steel.
Reduces arcane spell failure chance by 20%.
Grants 50% resistance to wind-based attacks.
-1 to AC if armor type
Ammunition
Aerolyth arrows and bullets gain +1 additional range increment due to their lightness.
Everything
When Aerolyth is enchanted with wind element, the enchantment gains a +1 value. This could manifest as extra uses, bonus dice, or a permanent power increase (GM discretion).

Geology & Geography
Aerolyth is most often found in high mountain ranges near wind ley lines, though smaller deposits can occasionally be discovered in windswept plains or scattered across other regions of the world.
History & Usage
Manufacturing & Products
The refining process of Aerolyth is similar to that of iron, though it requires far greater delicacy. Overheating or hammering too hard can ruin the metal’s structure. Skilled smiths use lighter tools and more precise techniques to preserve Aerolyth’s unique properties. Once refined, it is easier than steel to hone into razor-sharp edges, making it an exceptional choice for finely crafted blades.
