Torvin Talamh

Early Life

Torvin was born to the influential Talamh family, and his father served as the General of the Earth Militia for much of his young life. This left Torvin without a positive male influence and several behavioral issues that his mother did not have the time or capacity to deal with. The wealthy status of the family meant that he did not have to work throughout his childhood, which was mostly squandered in childish pursuits.

Early Military Career

When he reached 20 years of age, he began training to join the Militia like his father and grandfather before him. However, Torvin lacked the drive to apply himself, frequently finding ways to skip out on sessions. This led to him failing the Ritual of the Single Seed during his 25th year, and once again the next year. This brought an abrupt end to his military prospects, despite his father's status and reputation.

Tor the Drunk

Despite not being able to make it in the military, his father set him up with a clerkship with House Daenor to assist with the paperwork and logistics of running the Earthern province. He spent most of his nights at the Soggy Earth tavern and developed the nickname Tor the Drunk due to his love of ale. It is believed that he fathered two bastard children during this time frame.

Meeting Moria

It was during the yearly Festival of the First Thaw when the 34-year-old Torvin met Moria Flur, whom he was quickly smitten with. He spent the next few months courting her, and due to his family's status, was able to get the blessing for her hand from her Father. The two were wed after a year long courtship, with Moria encouraging him to apply himself more, drink less, and to remain focused on his family.

Return to Old Ways

While Torvin did seek to be a better man, he was only able to remain faithful for 20 years of his marriage. During that time, they were lucky based on Elven standards and had three children. Due to the stress of raising children, Torvin began to seek out the bottle again as an escape route, and with the drinking came back other, more regrettable habits.

Over the next 30 years, Torvin was on and off the wagon, and fathered two more children with Moria, including a young Elven girl, Carolina or "Carrie". However, it is believed that he fathered at least 4 children with other women during this time.
