Current Weaver Gauntlets

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Sleek and Aerodynamic: Minimal protrusions or sharp edges are designed to reduce drag in the water or air resistance while fighting on land. It is also intended to allow the user to deflect blows with ease (with the proper training, of course).

Articulated: It is highly flexible at the wrist and finger joints. Each finger segment is individually articulated with small, overlapping plates to allow full control of the fingers.

Engravings/Markings: Each pair is engraved with flowing patterns unique to the warrior and depicts his or her lineage, major deeds, and mastered styles. At the top of the hand is a central motif of the Maiden's Star.

Significance

Rite of Passage: For Elves who have studied martial arts, whether unarmed, archery, or armed, receiving these gauntlets is the culmination of their training.

Symbol of Authority: Only expert and dedicated Elves can wear them. They command respect and have been used as a barometer for advancement in the military ranks.

Heirlooms: The guanlets of great warriors of the past have been kept with their engraving emphasized to memorialize their great deeds.

For the 'Water' Elves, the Current Weaver gauntlets are not just protective gear, but an example of his or her mastery over their element and a testament to their rigorous training. They symbolize that this warrior guides and manipulates the currents of battle like the Maiden could manipulate the currents of the very water.

Raw materials & Components

Hardened, polished stalks of Deep-Kelp Reed - A type of seaweed found in the oceans off the coast of the Elemental Enclaves. It is surprisingly tough, lightweight, and somewhat buoyant. This makes up the main body of the gloves.

Plating/Segments - This can vary from warrior to warrior, but it is typically made out of steel refined with abalone shell or coral to provide the guanlets with extra strength. Noble families often use mitril or orichalum.

Lining: The lining is made from spun Sea-Silk, harvested from mollusks, which is known for its incredible softness and rapid drying. This prevents chafing during prolonged use in the water.

Fastenings: Intricate, interlocking glasps of silver, designed to resemble entwined waves or flowing script.
