It's that time of year again, and this will be my
second WorldEmber! Hopefully, I will do better this time, and that I will achieve my wordcount :D
I was a little late in getting this pledge out because I've been working on Novelember (I'm being a little rebel and I'm planning a book instead of writing one because I was not ready for Novelember and I still wanna earn that badge in case it doesn't come back next year!), but since I'm in a little slump in my book structuring right now, this is the perfect time to write this homework :D
When it comes to worldbuilding and having a word count I have to reach, I find myself a little worried. It depends on my frame of mind whether or not I'll struggle to reach the goal or blast night past it. Here's to hoping I'll be in the latter mood <3
Week 1: Pledge & Focus
When it comes to this year's WorldEmber, I can't think of one specific thing to worldbuild about and I think I will just keep building my novelember skeleton until I reach 10k words (I will keep building it afterwards, too). If I'm still needing to build it, that is. I probably will, since I will be following K.M. Weiland's story structure posts on her website (
https://www.helpingwritersbecomeauthors.com/how-to-outline-your-novel/) and that involves a lot of writing.
Week 2: Preparing Eldûra for New Readers
One of the things we needed to do for this week was to make sure the front page of our worlds was clear and concise and inviting to new readers. It was something we were invited to do in the homework for Summer Camp this year, and I did tidy it up some back then. I know I need to play with it a bit more, to add those links to help lead people to the beginning of Eldûra.
I have been working on the "Introduction" to Eldûra, inspired by "
An Introduction to Etrea" by
Serukis. It is far from being done, but since it would pertain to the background of my Novelember outline, I will be able to work on it and have it count towards the total wordcount (I'm such a rebel, lol). I like how Serukis represented her different races by the shape of their eyes, but I don't want to copy her idea so I have to come up with my own idea.
CSS: I have begun to tweak my css, but I can't seem to be happy with the colours I play around with. Ugh.
Week 3: Inspiration
Inspiration is a fickle thing for me—it flees from me when I want it, but then comes to me when I'm not thinking about writing, lol. I once got inspiration when the car I was in drove past a small, fenced-in park in the city that had nothing within it except a tree and a concrete table-thing. XD It lead to me write about
The Girl in the Diamond Chains.
The prompts that they put out for WorldEmber (hopefully), will be my main source of inspiration. I might listen to music, but I like to listen to Youtube vids where reddit stories read out (yeah, yeah but it's like people watching. Gives me inspiration for characters).
Week 4: Mental Maintenance
I do get a lot of fresh air since I have a dog (a source of distraction, lol). Coffee is my main source of fuel (I just got my WorldAnvil mug a couple days ago ❤️ ❤️ ❤️), but I also have G-Fuel energy drink powder (Watermelon's awesome, Pac-Man Nectarine is ok, and I can't make heads or tails of Rainbow Sorbet).
I've managed to return to waking up early like I did when I was making my mom's b-day present, and I find some of my most free writing then. Even though it seems to take forever for the fog to leave my head. I don't get out to the kitchen to get a coffee until later since I don't want to disturb anyone and thus lose the peace I had.
I think my brain will be able to get some rest in time for December. My grandmother has finally found a place in a really great retirment home that has doctors for
everything and is closer to my uncle, so that'll be one less person I have to look after. I'll still have to bake a majority of the Christmas cookies since Mom really shouldn't stand too long because of her feet (and now knees), but maybe that will give me little breaks that will help maintain my writing stamina :)
I hope you enjoy your Second World Ember, and have fun being the rebel you are. I hope you get to be inspires and reaches your world count goal. Good luck and have fun
Thanks so much <3 You too!
