Vexmel Sector

The Vexmel Sector, nestled on the fringes of the Cygnus Arm, stands as a desolate and haunting expanse, consisting of four planets and twelve moons. The sector's grim fate was sealed 87 years ago when a relentless warp storm swept through, cutting off all communication and travel for a harrowing 11 years. Profoundly altered by the cataclysmic event, the once-thriving planets now lie lifeless, shunned, and cursed by madness.

Approximately 250 years ago, the Vexmel Sector witnessed the arrival of ambitious pioneers who established thriving colonies across the four planets. The ensuing prosperity, however, was abruptly shattered 87 years ago when the warp storm descended upon the sector, unleashing unparalleled devastation. Cut off from the rest of the cosmos, all communication and travel became impossible, and the dwindling populations descended into madness, driving themselves to self-destruction.   Jasent now stands as a haunting shell shielding the remaining survivors, housing abandoned industrial facilities and struggling educational centers. Naryth, once atmosphericly scorched during nuclear desperation amidst the storm, bears the scars of its desperate past. Ralinsk remains ravaged by the chains of exotic volcanism, while Alyjukact endures perpetual psychic storms that relentlessly torment unshielded minds.

Dangerous Planets

The warp storm's lingering gravitic echoes continue to render warp travel hazardous near the sector. The remnants of Naryth's past resonate with maddening psionic screams that inflict insanity upon unshielded crews. Furthermore, the element X-12, found only within the sector, wreaks havoc on electromagnetic systems, perpetuating the realm's eerie ambience.

Culture in the Vexmel Sector

Economy

The sector's once-thriving economy is now nonexistent. Before the catastrophic storm, the Vexmel Sector was known for exporting the unique Element-X12 and scavenged materials from the ruins on Ethnyr. Presently, the lands remain uninhabited, their harsh environments, mutated hazards, and dimensional weaknesses rendering resettlement impossible. Recovery and reclamation are deemed utterly unfeasible.

A Glimpse into the Past

The catastrophic event wrought by the warp storm obliterated records of the sector's past culture. Yet, fragments of art and writing discovered by persevering archaeologists reveal hints of a once-vibrant and optimistic civilization before its tragic downfall.

Uncertain Future

The Vexmel Sector endures a plethora of menacing threats, including psychic resonance waves, hallucinatory anomalies, reality breakdowns, nightmarish remnants of a civilization long gone, devastating ion storms, and the grip of suicidal and homicidal mania in unshielded individuals. Speculation looms about the possibility of the warp storm's reoccurrence, the existence of ancient artifacts on Ethnyr or Jasent that may hold answers to the catastrophe, and whether anything of value remains hidden amidst the haunting silence of the sector. The Vexmel Sector remains an enigmatic realm, its secrets buried within its desolate landscape and fragmented history.
Tidbits from the Vexmel Sector

Naryth's ruined cities are devoid of skeletal remains - the dead inhabitants seemingly disincorporated during the nuclear desperation.
Ghostly psionic echoes of past inhabitants going about normal lives can still be observed on Jasent by the sensitive.
Psychic storms occasionally subside on Alyjukact, but the brief tranquility is considered more ominous than the storms themselves.
The volcanoes on Ralinsk eject element X-12 in liquid form that glows supernova blue as it rains downward and coagulates.
Though vacant, the ancient space elevator on Ethnyr still operates, sending empty cars endlessly up and down its mile-high length.
