Shores of Danger. The fabled Serpent's Veil Lake! Report
General Summary
- The party awoke to a new dawn where they were contacted by Seraphina as promised while on their expedition and informed her of the Drow ambush.
- After the party looked around, they noticed Sylara's (The Drow Wizard) body was missing, seemingly dragged off in the night.
- Daggoss and Dreamys came to the conclusion that whatever took the body used the Pass Without Trace spell to cover their tracks.
- Tony awoke and saw the same scene and was worried.
- Daggoss unlocked the envelope with the knock spell and it read in Sylvan: "Sylara. The time for justice is approaching. I am dispatching you and your vanguard to hunt down that wretched child and wish you return the bastard to my command. I have bestowed upon you a gift that will reveal itself should the need arise. Make haste, or suffer my wrath." - Lord Baelor
- Dreamy's had taken Sylara's clothing the night before and has now donned her Star Student attire
- Tony informs the party of his past and how he is here. His father tried to poison Lord Baelor and created a distraction for Tony to escape, but not before using a spell scroll of sorts to take a weight off Tony's chest.
- Daggoss shows Tony the note, and for a moment he seems shocked at the contents of the note before revealing he cannot read.
- The party then embarked for the lake coming across a beautiful scenery that seemed straight out of a movie.
- The massive shimmering lake with tree canopies breaking around to create a massive skylight to let the sun in, a glistening waterfall at the opposite end, the mountains of the Forge Union now seen through this break in the canopy, three pillars along with a pier in the North West of the lake, a fishing hut in the South of the lake, a massive overhanging rock on the North East side of the Lake, on the East as well is a river that exits the lake and continues Eastward.
- They noticed at the fishing hut a band of goblins and 2 shamans were standing facing towards the forest away from the water.
- Two of the goblins got into a fight where after being punched in the face. Both goblins were turned to look at the water where they swiftly clambered to get in before being sucked away by some mysterious force. The other goblins did not turn to try and stop the others from going in.
- Many failed stealth roles later and the party was seen by the goblins and ushered down by the shamans.
- One of the shamans told Dreamys the boss wants to see her, meanwhile the rest of the party stayed outside as per the orders of the shaman.
- One foot soldier goblin with a broken nose walked up to the party, sneered, and spat on the floor in front of the parties feet.
- Dreamys met up with Uthric the Hobgoblin commander of this now known scout party from the Umbral Dominion.
- After barely fooling Uthric into believing she was Sylara and Daggoss trying to tempt fate by trying to figure out ways to test the waters, the party learned that in the lake was a serpent that charmed any individual unfortunate enough to set eyes upon the marvelous waters of the lake.
- The party was also informed that the Umbral Dominion was taking over the Forge Union with little resistance thanks to something Uthric isn't even aware of.
- On the desk in the fishing hut were two maps, one of the lake with some fishermans notes on the side, and one war map with the Union Outpost and the Obsidian Quarry marked out in red X's.
- The rest of the Forge Union was circled.
- Dreamys discovered that this shack belongs to Jeremy Wade by finding a shattered picture frame with a portrait of Jeremy Wade, Madame Blaze, a Drow male, and a hooded rogue figure
- Uthric began to look for some goggles that had allowed an individual to look upon the waters and not be effected by the serpent's charming effects, but to no avail.
- The party went outside ready to leave, but not before discovering that the goggles might be on that very same goblin that sneered at them and disrespected them.
- Uthric gave permission for the party to use him as a test dummy to throw into the water.
- He had his shamans use up the rest of their mana to bolster the effectiveness of the goggles so that everyone may gaze upon this sight.
- He was swiftly thrown into the water thanks to a Tasha's Hideous Laughter by Dreamys and Taldrics might.
- The shamans quickly lost focus due to the overwhelming nature of expanding the magic on a magical item and Dreamys noticed and shouted in common so only Uthric, the shamans, and the party could understand her.
- All of the goblins including the shamans were enthralled by the water and swiftly went to their watery demise.
- Dreamys tried looking at the water and due to an act of fortunate dice rolls did not die.
- The party then taunted an emotionally beaten down Uthric by revealing they weren't with Sylara and the real Sylara was assumed dead.
- Uthric yielded to the party after a poor attempt at combating them and then tried to self suicide by gazing upon the water.
- Taldric leg swept him and slammed his skull into the wooden deck, knocking him out.
