Rock and Stone Report
General Summary
- The party started out fleeing the flying swarm of Skydancers into the dirt mound cave like entrance.
- On the way down the long cave tunnel the party begins to notice under the heavy webbing wooden supports as dirt turned to stone and ancient symbols and sigils revealed a story of dwarves mining signifying that this was an ancient Forge Union mineshaft.
- Entering the main foyeur the party is greeted by blue torches lining the walls and a weathered statue of a Dragonborn paladin bearing the crest of the Forge Union on his armor and sword.
- After a history check the party learned this was the very first Dragonborn Anvil Warden.
- Two rooms flanked the foyeur. One with an open door and another with a closed door.
- A screech came from deep in the cavern and caused EVERY member of the party to fail a CON save. Causing them to have disadvantage on attacks made against spiders for the next 10 minutes.
- This screech also caused the entrance of the cavern to collapse, pushing the party forward.
- The party entered the room with the closed door (armory) and began looting the area.
- Daggoss found a set of plate armor, handaxes, a war maul, and a locked chest with the level 4 spell: Locate Creature
- After using the knock spell on the chest, the spiders in the other room the players didn't explore came rushing in and were swiftly defeated after a level 3 fireball from Daggoss.
- After the encounter the party entered into the dining area and haphazardly set off a pressure plate releasing poison from vents in the ceiling.
- Gunter found a hidden switch underneath the pommel of one of the sword statues in the corner of the dining room opening a secret passage.
- After some more searching Hearth found the switch 30 feet into the webbed ceiling.
- Dreamys thinking on her feet summoned her ghostly spirit companion to fly up and hit the switch in the ceiling turning off the gas.
- The gas fucked up the party something fierce forcing them into a short rest.
- Tony, rolling two natural 20s on his saves had found a gas mask in the armory and was wearing it the entire time.
- In this dining room now was a locked stone double door barred on the other side as well as the secret passage now opened.
- Traversing down the secret path the party encountered a statue of Chronarix, the ancient time dragon with a journal in the open palm of one of its claws.
- Chronarix is a dragon that controls the ebbs and flows of time and is generally seen at Dragon's Reach during the changing tides of history.
- The journal is written in Leonin, not much else was discovered about this journal at the moment.
- The party returned to the double doors where Dreamys sent her ghost servant to open the door from the other side. Clever.
- Entering in to the main mining area Dreamys notices ores hanging from the ceiling about 60 feet in the air. Some are spiked and have a faint red glow to them and others smooth and opaque.
- Traveling further into the mine the terrain shifts to thick webbing.
- After an insane amount of prodding and poking at the webs Hearth casted detect magic and saw a pendant hanging from the wall closest to the party.
- The broodmother was waiting to ambush any alive members of the party to step far enough into her web and pounce.
- This plan, however was thwarted by Hearth and his detect magic.
- A rough combat ensues where Gunter is once again paralyzed for most of the combat.
- After this combat the party finds 1500 gold worth in gemstones, 3500 gold worth in ore (about 500 pounds), and a nonmagically and magically locked chest (chain lock and magical lock on the chest).
- Daggoss using knock attempts to unlock the chest, however this chest has a glyph of counterspell on it.
- Daggoss counterspelled the counterspell and unlocked the magical lock.
- The rest of the party managed to get the chain lock off the chest and find the flask inside of the chest.
- This flask is an opaque red flask with small chains around the ball of the flask and a yellow eye in the middle of it.
- Dreamys using the identify spell found out that this flask was used as a sealing mechanism.
- The party left off licking their wounds after the encounter with the mine continuing forwards.
