Wyrm-Slayer Series of Equipment

History of Wyrm-Slaying Artifacts

In the era of great calamity, when dragons were sent as soldiers to punish those who defied the gods, mortals were forced to devise a strategy to survive. The task of slaying these fire-breathing beasts seemed insurmountable, but early on, a mysterious tool emerged, known only as the "Dragon Slayer." This weapon was crafted for the sole purpose of defeating dragons and other beasts with draconic bloodlines, and it provided mortals with a slim hope of overcoming the draconic scourge.   However, as mortals honed their craft, they came to realize that the "Dragon Slayer" was not enough to combat all the different types of creatures that threatened their existence. As such, they began to create even more mysterious and powerful weapons, known only as "Wyrm-Slaying Artifacts." These powerful tools were designed to be effective against all manner of beasts, not just those with draconic bloodlines, and they allowed mortals to fight back against the creatures that had once dominated them.   It is believed that there are five fabled artifacts that have the power to slay all forms of creatures. It is said that each of these artifacts was crafted from the remains of fallen chromatic dragons, and imbued with their abilities. The makers of these artifacts understood that to be effective in slaying all manner of beasts, a weapon was not enough; thus, a set of armor was created to work in tandem with the weapon, making the user nearly invincible in battle.   These artifacts soon became sought-after commodities, coveted by warriors who sought to tip the balance of power in their favor in the wars that raged during the great calamity. After the wars had ended, some of these artifacts were passed down through families as treasured heirlooms, while others were claimed as trophies by the dragons who had managed to slay their foes in combat.     "Two ancient and mystical artifacts are said to be part of a lineage of powerful relics, crafted with a singular purpose - to slay dragons. However, as the great calamity swept across the land, many of the warriors who wielded these items fell in battle, leaving the artifacts behind to be claimed by their enemies. Curiously, it was discovered that these very same dragons who had once been targeted by the artifacts began to keep them as prized possessions, perhaps as a show of dominance over the mortals who had dared to challenge them. Only a precious few of these relics remained in the hands of mortals, and even these were highly coveted by those who understood their power.   As the ages passed, the artifacts passed through the hands of many, but they always seemed to find their way back to the dragon lineage, where they were kept as trophies, reminders of the time when dragons had dominated the land. Today, the whereabouts of these artifacts are shrouded in mystery, known only to those who have dared to seek them out and possess the power that they hold."
