Chromatic Dragons

The darker side of dragonkind is represented by the black, blue, green, red, and white dragons, known as the chromatic dragons. These creatures are aggressive, gluttonous, and vain, and are feared by all creatures, including their own kind. Chromatic dragons are driven by greed and their insatiable desire for treasure. They believe that all wealth in the world belongs to them, and they seize it without any regard for the creatures that may have acquired it. Their hoards of coins, gems, and magical items are legendary, but they have no interest in commerce or spending their wealth.   These dragons are creatures of ego and believe that they are the most powerful and worthy beings in the world. They only interact with other creatures to further their own interests and see humanoids as animals fit to serve them as prey or beasts of burden. They have no respect for them whatsoever and consider them unworthy of any kind of reverence.   Chromatic dragons choose or build their lairs not for shelter, but for defense and the protection of their treasure. They prefer multiple entrances and exits to their lairs and use the natural environment to their advantage. Powerful chromatic dragons also employ magical guardians, traps, and subservient creatures to protect their hoards. Most chromatic dragon lairs are hidden in remote and dangerous locations to deter all but the most daring adventurers.
