Korgrun

Korgrun sits at the lower heart of eastern Jadeheart’s road network, a crucial stopover between Dundorth and Nendirth along the river, and the vast port eastern port city of Thruum. The city thrives on efficiency and movement. Goods come here to be taxed, sorted, rerouted, and warehoused before moving deeper into the kingdom.

Government

Korgrun is governed by a Quartermarshal, a title combining military and civic oversight. The current officeholder is Gruniya Hearthbound, a logistics-minded dwarf with little tolerance for corruption or delay. Under them are the Waytrack Stewards, appointed officials who supervise roads, licenses, and caravan regulation.

Industry & Trade

Korgrun is built around and for transit. Caravans arrive daily to switch out oxen, repair carts, or negotiate taxes. It is also home to several vaulted warehouses used by merchant families across the kingdom. A quiet but growing economy of information brokers, cartographers, and weather-route-prediction has emerged to serve the elite merchant class.

Districts

Waystone Circle

A round plaza where all major roads converge; often home to public announcements and traveling performers.

The Ledgerhall

The tax and transit office, run by steely-eyed bureaucrats who track every shipment.

The Distant Hearth

A sprawling, multi-level inn that caters to all classes of traveler.

Eastwall Gate

The largest entrance to the city, guarded by clockwork gates and flanked by long-haul wagon lanes.

Guilds and Factions

  • The Ledger Guild: Tax auditors and transport appraisers, infamous for their exhaustive documentation.
  • Ironstave Caravan Company: A merchant-run security guild, offering "total transit protection."
  • The Roadbinders: A small union of teamsters, cartwrights, and animal handlers.
  • The Gilded Letter: A private courier and information service with deep pockets and deeper secrets.
  • Architecture

The city is shaped like a spiral roadwheel, with roads radiating out like spokes from a central Waystone Circle, a massive ring of dwarf-carved milestones and stonework pillars. Inns, caravan stalls, blacksmiths, and stables dominate the outer districts, while bureaucratic centers and long-term storage depots crowd the inner lanes.
