Dulrogh

Perched on the rugged western frontier, Dolrogh is a city with its eyes wide open. Guarding the corridor where the Jadeheart Kingdom meets both the Tanarian Empire the easternmost tip of Ironhold, Dolrogh is a city of vigilance and layered allegiance. While smaller than many other dwarven settlements, its geopolitical importance vastly outweighs its size.

Government

Dolrogh is ruled by Commander Breltha Runebranch, a former Ashmark ranger turned leader. She is known for her sharp wit, careful neutrality, and ability to speak three dialects of Elvish, which serves her well in diplomacy. Breltha answers directly to High King Hazemi Jadeheart, and maintains an open council of scouts, diplomats, and smiths to guide the city.

Defences

Dolrogh maintains an elite force, well-suited to small-unit tactics, forest navigation, and long-range observation. Its army includes:
  • The Ashmark, border rangers equipped with enchanted arrows and runed armor.
  • The Stonecallers, dwarves who specialize in seismic and terrain-altering magics, ideal for controlling choke points.
  • The Forgeborn Band, a rotating cohort of volunteer Ironhold dwarves sent south as part of a cooperative treaty.

  • Dolrogh’s defense is not in brute strength but information, terrain control, and clever design. Most would-be attackers find themselves hopelessly lost or flanked before ever reaching the gates.

    Industry & Trade

Dolrogh is a hub of cautious commerce, especially in Runewood from Tanaria (precious enchanted lumber), forge-metals from Ironhold, Rare herbs and mushrooms grown in forest caves, and treasured deep honey, a thick, golden nectar collected from cavernous beehives by native scouts.
The city houses permanent envoys from both Ironhold and the Tanarian Empire, and while alliances are tenuous, Dolrogh is often the site of backchannel diplomacy, resource negotiations, and religious dialogue.

    Guilds and Factions

  • The Hollow Guild: Spelunkers and cave-delvers who map the western tunnels and trade hidden pathways with Tanarian scouts.
  • The Silent Flame: A secretive order of dwarves dedicated to monitoring magical threats from Tanaria’s shadowy depths.
  • The Third Table: An informal council of Ironhold and Tanarian travelers and exiles who advise Breltha on non-traditional diplomacy.
  • Architecture

Unlike the deeply recessed town or cliff-bound cities of the Jadeheart Kingdom, Dolrogh rises above the earth like a squat mountain of stone and metal. The city has no walls in the traditional sense. Instead, its entire perimeter is ringed by earthworks, anchored towers, and beacon-pillars built for signaling other cities or watching the woods.
Key sectors include the Steelroot Quarter, where most citizens live and craft. Homes here are made of timber from traded elven wood, reinforced with dwarf masonry. The Emberwatch is a high stone bastion where scouts and border guards live, often operating independently for weeks at a time, and the Concord Hall makes up a fortified embassy space built for meetings between the Jadeheart Kingdom, and any visiting foreign dignitaries.
