Half-Elf

Walking in two worlds but truly belonging to neither, half-elves combine what some say are the best qualities of their elf and human parents: human curiosity, inventiveness, and ambition tempered by the refined senses, love of nature, and artistic tastes of the elves.   Despite being a supposed impossibility now that the two races, human and elf, are completely separated there are some who still persist to this day. Either descended from Half-elves from before the countries split, or the result of the rare starcrossed lovers who find a way to meet despite the strict control of the border and have a child. Usually the half-elf child ends on whichever side of the border the mother is from. Half-elves are tolerated on both sides but are treated as lesser beings no matter what. In the Blessed Kingdom it is believed that their elven blood taints them, while in Draxium it is the human blood believed to be tainting.   Half-elves who develop the ability to to use magic and live in the Blessed Kingdom of Light are banished.
