Clerics of the Hunger Domain serve primal forces that see the act of consumption not as a sin, but as a sacred cycle. Some follow monstrous gods of the wild or the hunt, while others devote themselves to necrotic lords who consume souls, flesh, and spirit alike. Whether holy or unholy, these deities reward their followers with the ability to withstand the toxins, parasites, and illnesses that would claim weaker prey. Hunger is not an affliction to them—it is purpose, power, and proof of dominance.
Clerics of hunger often act as apex predators, driven by instinct and guided by divine will. They stride into battle to devour the unworthy, draw strength from the flesh of the fallen, and resist anything that would claim them from within. They are feared for their tenacity and unsettling vitality, their very breath reeking of sanctified rot or sacred blood. Ikalaqil, the
Botari bat god of hunger, and
Krivun, the demon prince of undeath, are among the most infamous sources of this domain, though even neutral or survival-focused beings may grant it.
Domain Spells
1st-Level Cleric (Hunger Domain) Feature
You gain the following spells at the listed cleric levels as domain spells.
Devouring Maw
1st-Level Cleric (Hunger Domain) Feature
Your bite becomes a natural weapon for you. Your bite uses your Strength or Wisdom modifier (your choice) for attack and damage rolls, and deals 1d8 piercing damage on a hit. This bite counts as a magical weapon for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with this bite, you may devour part of it as a bonus action, regaining hit points equal to your Cleric Power Reservoir + your Constitution modifier.
Additionally, your divine tolerance for ingested threats makes you immune to the poisoned condition, and you have advantage on saving throws against diseases, drugs, or ingested toxins. You do not gain this advantage if the substance enters your body through wounds, inhalation, or contact.
Channel Divinity: Feast Upon the Weak
2nd-Level Cleric (Hunger Domain) Feature
You can use your Channel Divinity to tear into a weakened foe. As an action, you present your holy symbol and target a creature within 30 feet that is
Bloodied. The next time you hit that creature with a melee weapon attack within 1 minute, the attack deals additional necrotic damage equal to 2d10 + your cleric level, and you regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt.
Glutton's Resilience
6th-Level Cleric (Hunger Domain) Feature
Your gut can endure the worst of the world. You are immune to ingested poisons and diseases, and gain resistance to necrotic damage.
Whenever you succeed on a saving throw against a disease, poison, or ingested substance, you may use your reaction to let out a sickened roar. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC equal to your cleric spell save DC) or take 2d6 necrotic damage.
Divine Strike
8th-Level Cleric (Hunger Domain) Feature
You gain the ability to infuse your weapon strikes with divine energy. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra damage increases to 2d8.
Gorge Upon the Fallen
17th-Level Cleric (Hunger Domain) Feature
You can consume the divine echoes left in the dying. When a creature within 30 feet of you dies, you may use your reaction to devour its essence. You regain hit points equal to its Constitution score and gain advantage on Strength and Constitution checks and saving throws until the end of your next turn.
Additionally, when you use this feature, you regain one expended uses of your Channel Divinity if you consume the essence of a creature with a challenge rating or level equal to or higher than half your cleric level. Once you regain a use in this way, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
