You grind a chunk of metal to fine dust between your hands and blow it into the air, where it grows into a tangle of wires covered in razor-sharp prongs in a 20-foot-radius Sphere around a point you choose within range. The wires and prongs are of the same type of magic used for the material component of this spell. The area is Difficult Terrain, and a creature that moves through the area takes 3d4 Slashing damage per 5 feet moved.
If a creature takes Slashing or Piercing damage while inside the affected area, or takes damage from Bleeding while in the area, you can use your Reaction to cause the thicket to grow, increasing the radius of the Sphere by 5 feet, to a maximum of a 40-foot-radius Sphere.
When the spell ends, the chunk of metal used as a material component reforms in your hand.
