Shortly afterwards, the Archmandrite was poisoned by an unknown assailant.   Archmandrate Emerick Ludell (6695-6730)– succeeded Verandtra, immediately investigated the poisoning and found it to be the work of magic users. Over that year Ludell bans the use of arcane magic and closes the doors of Volfast to the outside world in order to keep the city safe from demonic influence. He was praised for quickly ending a peasant rebellion.
