Guild Report - SL - Valkyra: Predators Among the Plow
General Summary
The guild received a request from the small farming village of Harvest Hollow to help solve a string of murders. The following Guildmast agents investigated the incident: Kex, a Goblin rogue; Zorin, a Goliath barbarian; Whisper, an Aarakocra druid; Rann, a Bugbear fighter and sorcerer; and Hal, a Halfling barbarian. Upon arriving in the village, the chief warden informed the guild that farmers and their livestock had been killed, and their crops were completely destroyed. The murders has began 7 days ago and the lead suspect, a strange tabaxi had arrived a day before. Unfortunately the Tabaxi refused to speak with anyone other than Guildmast. A town guard was sent to investigate the murders a day ago and had since gone missing. The warden said the adventurers would be rewarded if they could find him. Upon speaking to the suspect, the suspect revealed her name as Saberclaw. She informed the guild that she came from the ancient past through a mysterious portal and that the murders had been caused by creatures from the past. Before Saberclaw could speak anymore, Zorin spotted two triceratops charging directly toward the village. As the creatures approached faster, trampling through houses and market stalls. The party prepared themselves as they planned to stop the charging beasts from harming any innocents. After a harrowing battle the adventurers managed to defeat the beasts. To celebrate their victory, the barbarian Zorin cut off the head of the triceratops and wore its head as a trophy. During the commotion of the fight, Saberclaw had managed to get out of her cell. The party followed the path of destruction into a field. Initially the field was quiet but the barbarian Hal was able to spot a pack of Velociraptors and Deinonychus hiding in the crops. After effortlessly dispatching the ferocious creatures, the rogue Kex took the claw of the Deinonychus. The party then found tracks leading to a forest, stopping dead at glowing portal on the edge. In front of the portal sat a longsword, a sign that the guard was on the other side. The part made a decision to follow the tracks through the portal. On the other side the party was met with a completely new environment, a lush green forest untouched by civilisation. The party was unable to take in the view for long as the portal closed behind them and they heard a roar nearby. Looking over they saw a Tyrannosaurus Rex and an Allosaurus in front of a cave fighting. Directly behind the dinosaurs was the guard, wounded and unconscious but alive. Deeper in the cave was a strange glow. Saberclaw noted that this glow was likely coming from the item she needed to close the portal. Initially the party planned to sneak through, but Zorin mistakenly drew the attention of the two dinosaurs by shouting. The battle was intense but the two barbarians were able to bear the brunt of the attacks while the druid Whisper was able to fly past and heal the injured guard and save him from death. After the two dinosaurs were slain, Hal took a tooth from the tyrannosaurus. Jinx found the crystal she needed to close the portal and as a reward, trandformed the trophies the party members took from the dinosaurs and turned them into magical items to assist the party in their future adventures. The party made their way back to the portal as it opened once more, and found a way back to their time while Saberclaw stayed behind to close it for good. Upon their arrival the village warden rewarded players with 250 gold each and a promise to share a portion of their profits to help Guildmast rebuild.
Overall, the mission was a success and the party safely made it back to Guildmast.
