Guild Report - SL - The Butterfly Effect

In the village of Southport the animals have been acting strange and attacking their masters. There seems to be no reason for such aggresive behaviour. Our brave adventurers set out by boat and in sight of land are suddenly beset by a pod of dolphins; their eyes red with rage, they leap at the boat but are turned away by the furious fists of the goliath and mighty hex-bound magic of Shade the warlock. Seeking more information the brave crew enter the forest and are set on by a swarm of vampiric butterflies. Swords ineffective in attack, the druid summond a giant spider to web them and a toad to chomp down. The spiders web entrapped most of the swarm, but the giant toad turned hostile after eating a gob full of the flying fiends. Undetered, they continued, following tracks of a large beast that lead away from the clearing. Mangled animals corpses littered their path with half eaten bunnies and the remains of a large wolf making them concerned yet they persisted until they found a large cave bear feasting on the corpse of another wolf. Our brave goblin snuck up and buried her rapier deep into the bears hide, but not to be outdone, the warlock stepped through the mist and slashed the mighty beast with two strikes of his brightly glowing blade. Angry to miss out both barbarians charge, great axes swinging and blood flying. Before they knew it the beast was dead, but not before it returned favour to the rogue, drawing their blood with a mightly sweep of its claws.
Following the clues, the team followed the butterflie trail into the cave and found a large, unusual plant. Surrounding it was a misty, smoky looking green cloud of spores. Every few seconds a normal looking butterfly was attracted to the sickly pungent smell it gave off and then changed on consuming the delicacy. The source of these strange events had finally been found, and must be destroyed!
