Guild Report - SL - Mystic Moonbeam Mingle

General Summary

While visiting the town of Ironridge on guild business the small party of adventurers were drawn towards a forest where lights and magic were coming from, quickly encountering a pair of low ranking nobles, Ernest and Elvira Copperstone. Upon questioning the distraught looking couple they explained they were looking for their daughter, Delilah Copperstone, who had run away. They told the party that they believed their daughter had run away to the Mystic Moonbeam Mingle, a Festival that appears in random locations of the world where the Fae Wilds crossover with the material planes for a single night every few years. They offered the party 50 gold pieces each to recover the girl, although with some prompting from the group they raised the reward to 100.
Travelling to the festival they encountered a number of strange happenings. A pack of wolves led by a Direwolf who had spontaneously gained the ability to speak common due to the Fae's magic they had to intimidate into allowing passage, a set of commoners blocking the bridge spouting anti-Fae slogans and protesting. Fortunately our party was able to get past them without any real hassle, although things did almost escalate into violence after the rogue attempted to knock several out and they had to resort to scaring the commoners down.
Finally they reached the entrance to the festival where one final barrier awaited them. a half-goat man who acted as the ticket salesman, offering to give them access for the price of 5 silver pieces or a good story. While the Bard was able to get past by telling a wonderful story about the music god Taylor Swift the rest of the party chose to pay in silver, having been given enough by the copperstones to get in. [15:12] Once the Party entered the festival they chose to explore the festival while looking for the child. Playing many games, watching many shows and trying all kinds of magical foods. Eventually the group's attention was drawn to a commotion where the girl they were looking for was being chased by an Ogre, having apparently tried to steal some food from the chef. Upon confronting the ogre the druid offered to pay for the girl’s stolen goods appeasing the ogre enough to let them leave, although the rogue ended up stealing the coins back before the ogre got too far.
While this was going on the bard approached the girl and told them why they were here, only for the girl to run into the largest tent of the festival claiming she’d never be going home. As the adventurers made chase they heard a scream and discovered the girl was unconscious and an old woman was standing over her.
While the party initially tried to reason with the woman upon the bard casting a spell to harm her, the woman shed her disguise and revealed her true form, an Annis hag. The battle with the hag was fierce, with the bard being grappled and almost crushed by it’s might before the rogue was able to sneak behind her and get in a critical stab, injuring the hag enough that she retreated through a series of underwater tunnels installed into the tent.
As they debated chasing the hag they were interrupted by Barbello, an ancient Couatl pretending to be an elvish man who was in charge of the entire festival, posing as a ringleader type figure, although the Party never discovered his true nature. Upon questioning he revealed the purpose of the festival was to act as a neutral ground where the material plane dwelling races could experience the fae wilds in a safe way as a way to maintain peace, he also apologised for the Hag’s actions and promised she would suffer consequences before handing each of the adventurers a trio of tokens, which they had been winning from games. [15:12] With their tokens and the child in hand the party enjoyed the festival for a little longer before heading home. When the bard asked the child why she ran away the child explained how as a noblegirl she wasn’t able to do anything she enjoyed, as Delilah was a bit of a tomboy and her family was fairly traditional. Before leaving the party exchanged their tokens for magic items, including the rogue and bard each getting a bag of holding customised to have the exterior appearance of whatever bag they wanted and the ranger choosing to get a Periapt of Wound Closure. The druid simply got some health potions.
Finally to close the adventure the party headed back to town, giving the child to her parents who in gratitude handed over the promised gold, scolding their child as they did.
