Thomas Covenant (TAH-muhs LANG-lee KOV-uh-nuhnt)

Author/Traveler of Realms

Thomas Langlry Covenant (a.k.a. The Unbeliever, Twiceborn, Bearer of the White Gold)

Thomas Covenant was born May 11, 1948 in Windham County, Vermont, into a world he never fully trusted. A successful novelist in his early life, his world was upended by a leprosy diagnosis in his thirties, triggering both social exile and internal collapse. But Covenant’s path was never bound to one realm. Inexplicably drawn into a parallel dimension known only as the Land, he was cast into a role of reluctant messiah—armed with a white gold wedding band that wielded wild, unfathomable magic.   He fought corruption, despaired, sinned, healed, died, and was reborn. Through successive confrontations with the malevolent Despiser, Covenant was eventually destroyed and resurrected in spirit-form, a guardian bound not to flesh but to the essence of Time itself. By the end of the Last Chronicles, he had become more than man—an anchor of memory, balance, and paradox within the metaphysical lattice of the Land. Though his body died, his awareness persists beyond it, no longer bound by mortal decay.
