Sarmales con Sabor Mexicano

Sarmale with a Mexican Twist

Sarmale, or stuffed cabbage rolls, are a staple in Romani cuisine. We'll infuse them with Mexican flavors.

Recipe Directions

Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water until they're soft enough to roll.
Mix the ground meat with rice, onion, garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf, roll it up, and tuck in the ends.
Lay the rolls in a deep pan, cover with tomato sauce and chicken broth, and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Serve the sarmale sprinkled with fresh cilantro and a side of sour cream.
