Pirithous (a.k.a. Piers)
Pirithious, in this retelling, is a son of Zeus, a powerful warrior and noble hero known for his boldness and sense of justice. His story diverges from the myth during the infamous wedding of Hippodama and Pirithious, where the centaurs, drunk on wine, disrupted the celebrations. Rather than the battle leading to his death, as told in traditional myth, Pirithious is saved at the last moment by the head of the Centaurs. This intervention is seen as an attempt at redemption for the centaurs' behavior during the incident.
Instead of facing death in the Underworld, Pirithious is taken to the land of Tir na nOg, a place of eternal youth and peace. His presence in this idyllic realm is an ironic twist of fate, as he had previously sought immortality alongside his close friend Theseus. Now, he has found it in a world that bears none of the hardships or betrayals of his mortal existence. This second chance has allowed him to reflect on his past with greater clarity and understanding.
