Ometeotl (oh-meh-TEH-oh-tl)
Mesoamerican Deity
Ometeotl
Ometeotl is the breath before the word, the dual heart from which all existence emerges. To the Mexica, they are not simply a god but the primordial principle of balance—both mother and father, motion and stillness, darkness and light. Dwelling in the highest heaven, Omeyocan, Ometeotl is the source of all other gods, the spark that birthed order from the void. They do not demand worship in temples or blood, for they are beyond petition. Ometeotl is invoked in silence, through understanding.
Their presence exists in the sacred symmetry of the cosmos—the dualities that hold the world upright. They are not one to act but one to be, embodying the unifying force that allows conflict and harmony to coexist.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
When appearing in humanoid form, Ometeotl takes on an androgynous visage composed of mirroring halves—one male, one female—joined in perfect symmetry. Their skin shifts in hue like mother-of-pearl, iridescent and alive with unseen light. They wear a cloak of stars on one shoulder and one of flame on the other, with eyes that alternate in color and depth depending on who beholds them. Their voice is layered, carrying echoes of two truths spoken at once.
Mental characteristics
Sexuality
Ometeotl’s sexuality is unbounded, for they are the archetype of union itself. They embody the sacred intimacy of opposites merging—of spirit and flesh, of idea and action. Attraction, for them, is never physical alone; it is the magnetic pull between dualities seeking balance. They are drawn to those who reconcile contradictions, who dance between strength and surrender. To love Ometeotl is to enter into a devotion that dissolves binaries and births something entirely new.
