Khonashu (KAH-nah-shoo)
A Resident
Khonashu (a.k.a. Ashu)
Khonashu, born of the moon god Khonshu and the dual-gendered human Amunenet, is a rare example of the Leath-Dhia, a demi-god born of divine and mortal lineage. The myth surrounding their birth begins with Khonshu, who, in a ritual meant to bless the harvest, spilled his divine seed across the fields to fertilize the crops. Unbeknownst to him, Amunenet, a human with both male and female aspects, had fallen asleep in the fields. The divine essence entered their body, and Amunenet became pregnant. Out of fear of divine retribution, they hid the child, raising Khonashu in secret and never revealing the truth of their parentage to the moon god.
As Khonashu matured, their divine nature began to surface. On the night of their coming of age, they transformed into a falcon-headed being, their appearance reflecting their father's divine form. Driven by instinct, Khonashu flew across the night sky to Khonshu's temple, where the god recognized his child immediately. Knowing that the time of the gods was waning and the mortal realm would soon forget their names, Khonshu sought to protect Khonashu from the coming changes. He sent them to Tir na nOg, a realm where peace and harmony would allow Khonashu to live freely and safely. In this realm, Khonashu found purpose guiding the residents through the rare, sacred process of childbirth, a role they cherish. They offer comfort, wisdom, and care, ensuring that the new lives born into Tir na nOg are embraced in peace and love, just as Khonashu now embraces their dual heritage.
