Aisling (ASH-ling)
Board Game
Drawing upon the essence of Patolli, a game of fate and fortune, Xitlali envisioned "Aisling," a path that each spirit must traverse to achieve divine harmony.
Objective
The goal of Aisling is to successfully navigate the trials of life, accumulate the required blessings, and ascend to the Divine path. In a single-player game, achieving this marks the player's spiritual ascendance and victory. In multiplayer mode, the first to ascend to the Divine path has the chance to shape the destiny of others, adding a layer of strategy and interaction as players seek to balance their own progress with the influence they wield over their competitors. The game is over when all opponents have died.
Game Description
Aisling is played on a board marked by 24 celestial depressions, a reflection of the days in the Mexica ritual calendar, forming a path. Players must navigate this path, collecting blessings (points) while avoiding disasters that threaten to take them back or, worse, end their journey prematurely.Blessings and Disasters
Scattered along the path are spots marked for blessings and disasters. Landing on a blessing grants the player a point, symbolizing the acquisition of knowledge, strength, or favor from the spirits. Encountering a disaster requires the player to cast the dice, with the outcome determining if they lose a point (od number), survive unscathed (even number), or face the end of their journey (a one). The Divine Path
Upon collecting 10 blessings, the player ascends to the Divine path, a realm where they gain the power to influence the journey of others. In this heightened state, the player navigates the same path but with the ability to affect the fate of fellow travelers, guiding or hindering their progress based on the roll of the dice. They can force the player backwards on their next roll. The Divine person rolls for the Disasters. Objective
